Wouldn't surprise me if we had an agreement in place in November last year (exclusivity period) then in January of this year when Kat made a statement it was because they had found out other things about Lander Sports and they were backtracking a bit? Then Feb rolls around and the PL blocks the deal etc.
But we clearly haven't kicked them to the curb, or they wouldn't have much need to appeal the decision, because you cannot buy a club without a willing seller.
For all we know, the PL may have blocked Lander previously and it's reared its head again now because they're trying their luck with getting an investment in Saints. It would be plausible but also makes sense for The Sun to spin it as 'new news' and tie its relevance to us. Let's wait and see what the weeks ahead hold. It's never boring...
"Lawyers for the Chinese consortium are due to meet the Premier League this morning in a bid to reach a final verdict on Lander and Gao’s suitability to buy into the richest league in the world. The outcome does not guarantee Lander will complete a deal with Saints owner Katharina Liebherr. It is understood there are other offers on the table, Lander is not the preferred bidder and that the club is likely to have new investors within a fortnight." Approval to to be an owner within the premier league and to own Southampton are two separate questions. I'm sure we're not the only club looking for investment.
Sure. But we're the club who they, twice, announced that they had agreements to buy, neither of which we have shot down. Perhaps we're simply too polite, but if a shady group was telling the world that they were buying something from me, after I'd already determined that they were too toxic to associate with, I'd want to correct the record in a big way.
Ruddy heck surely we are not going to do a "Pompey"? It would just be our luck!! The man has surely got a reputation. Still if the PL approve it doesn't mean that Lander will still get the club, as I'm hearing that their time was up in March, allowing another bidder the chance to dip their toes in......... Me thinks it is going to be an interesting early summer...........
Don't think it's worth the potential legal issues. Especially when you can let the league give you an easy way out.
Similar report in the Mail, saying Lander need to borrow 70% of the buyout price. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...businessman-200m-bid-Southampton-blocked.html
Hmm, Daily Mail vs apparently dodgy update statement. Who to believe.? Not really a contest is it.? I'll take the dodgy update statement.
Unless it is a massive case of mistaken identity, I cannot believe Gao is pure as the driven snow as the bribery scandal was widely reported.
Indeed, it's possible. After all... "it is entirely possible that people of all races (regardless of gender, sexuality, height, width, religion, political persuasion, taste in music) are capable of greed and criminality." I apologise. I'm in that kind of mood today.
I believe I might know something now. You might know something if you read this: http://www.insideworldfootball.com/2017/04/27/lander-grounded-saints-new-225m-deal-table/ New £225M investment waiting in the wings after Lander clears off.
