Having watched the match and the highlights,

Richardson - poor first 10 minutes but after that I thought he did well. Did have an understanding with Larson but that has to be developed.

Ferdinand - Got away with it today, the Gypsie goal was lucky for us. I'm not sure him against Ameobie so I'd go O'Shea if fit but then again I'm still purring over Brown's performance (reminds me of when Steve Bold was here - the class stands out a mile!)

I'm keeping Brown and Bardsley for the derby (did you see how much it meant to Bardsley when Liverpool missed the pen! He is Sunderlands new Kevin Ball)

Midlfield - Elmo - Catts - Colback - Larrson.............Sticking with this midfield means we are not getting many goals from Midfield this season. I can understand a negative midfield away against Liverpool (however looking at their midfield I think we showed them too much respect) I'd expect a more attacking midfield against the mags - I hate to think Bruce adopts a we can't lose this mentality. So for me Colback dropped for a bit more experience and attacking ability in Gardner.

Up front it's the same starting to (if Gyan fit???) however I thought Gyan looked uninterested today which worried me and also I worry about this front two not getting enough decent possession due to their height and our love to punt the odd ball forward. So I'm not sure for Sess to start on the left, Larrson right and one of the young lads up front to win the ball, after all the Derbies are hardly flowing football types of matches,

    What does everyone else think?

Tony, sorry marra but I have to disagree with you.

To put it simply, Ricco was utter ****ing ****e & Ferdinand whilst not having a spectacular game was solid & assured, tidied owt up the went past & took the no nonsence approach.

I'm hoping Oshea fit really, don't mind Ferdinand at left back, better there than centre half and gives the defence more height. I could live with that.

Tony i thought young Colbeck was one of the pluses to come out of that match.never put a foot wrong 98% OF HIS PASSING WAS SPOT ON. that's why he was fouled so much by the Bin dippers, Jesus the young gun was nearly running the show so to drop him is stupid, That lad will go far and is worth 20 times more than Henderson, i know you would like to see others given a run out. But Jack has earned his place and should stay.

O'Shea isn't a CB, he can cover there. That's why he should be RB and Bardo LB, and I disagree about Ferdinand he looked solid to me, so the backline would be: O'Shea-Brown-Ferdinand-Bardo.

Would be hard for Bruce to drop Colback and I don't see him dropping him, even if it means playing him LM, and play Larsson RM. With Catts and Gardener in CM.

    And the same strike-force

If o'shea is fit he should go RB and let bardo go back to LB.
Richardson had a shocking start, lucky not to be red-carded for me considering how many bookings in the game.

Colback was very solid, better than catts by a country mile.
Gyan didn't get any real service and sess battled on with not much going for him, shooting from us was dreadful, think we'll struggle to get many goals this season

Yes he did, but he look better when Wes was doing the harder stuff for him <laugh>
    <ok>

Elmo didn't do such much -bar the assist and wasn't so effective and I wonder if O'Shea isn't Bruce's 1st team choice over the Egyptian Beckham <laugh>

I thought Colback had a top game (bar a mistake defending Suarez' goal) and will get better. With Vaughan and Meyler (and O'Shea) he's got every incentive to play his guts out! And he did. Catts had a very decent confidence boosting game too.

Brown was the best player on the field for us and Charlie Adam is so hard to defend! Interesting, that those 2 newcomers, changed the shape and character of those 2 teams yesterday.
Well the tides flowed firmly against us last season both games tbh

We played quite a bit of neat passy-passy yesterday, but couldn't penetrate the final 1/3 a lot of the game. AND GYAN DID OK! He created the space fo Elmo's cross initially and he has very clever feet -he didn't look match sharp and perhaps a bit of fitness, but to me, he looked mean and dangerous.

I think we should be able to create more chances next Saturday, we certainly looked like we're a good team.

    Bring it on and HAWAYYY!!

Thought Browns debut was on a par with S.Varga's, sheer class. One of the best I've seen.

When I watched it yesterday, I thought it was Colback who didn't get behind the player and the ball. Most ppl seem to blame Richardson though <ok>

Richardson, Elmo and (sorry) Catts were a let down for me today. Richardsons passing and positioning was very poor, Elmos delivery was piss poor and Catts, although he has the heart, wasted too many balls. On at least 3 occasions Catts blasted the ball over the bar from miles out when he should have layed it off.
