Just recived a text saying 1-1. Fook sake! I listened to crap for 70 minutes then turn off and miss us score
Need to spend big in the summer we want to put in a proper challenge for promotion I think today has shown maybe a lot of the squad have gone as they can in this league
7 Points of the playoff places. If Millwall Southend and Rochdale lose the next 2 games and Rovers win the next 2 then the match against Millwall will take on some importance.9th place after 2 promotions in succession isn't bad I would have taken that at the beginning of the season
DC sounded a little bit down in that interview, personally I think we have had a pretty good season and as most people agree that with the right signings we can make a serious challenge for promotion next year, but having said all that this season is not over yet and I am sure there could be more twists and turns before its all over
I feel that DC's interview was very significant. I don't have any doubt that he is proud of what he has achieved with the players he has been able to work with. BUT I get the feeling that he wants everyone on board at the club to get together and realise that he is not prepared to tread water. He knows his present squad isn't good enough to move forward to his requirements. IMO he is telling the guys with the money that he needs to acquire players who match his ambition. I'm confident that he wants to obtain that higher status with the Rovers, but there was an element of threat in that interview which suggests to me that without a bit more financial support he may be looking elsewhere to achieve his own aims.
Totally agree. Thats the feeling I got that unless he gets the support to move things forward he may have to move on. I'm sure there are a few Championship clubs who would like him onboard.
The lads have done amazingly well. Half the side were in the National League. But DC's right. We need more quality to move forward. But I do think he's found a formula that would make the playoffs next year. This season was torpedoed by the poor defence and goalkeeping before Lumley and Sweeney arrived. We clearly can't do it now, not least because of goal difference. But also because Southend, Mill wall and Scunny are just too far ahead now. I still think Scunny might miss out...
You are quite right, the lads have done amazingly well, and there have been times that I've come away from a game, feeling that they are punching above their weight, yet still coming away with the points somehow. The way to look at it is that if you look at all the teams in the football league, plus the National League, (and I include them because we were part of it a couple of years ago), there are currently 63 clubs that would rather be in our position than their own. Not to mention clubs that might be in a higher position than us, but in a less sound financial position or facing a less stable future. I've said it all along, small steps forward is the key to future stability and success, and we are doing that just fine. In a way, I'm not sorry we're going to miss out this season - in my mind, there's no doubt we would have struggled in the Championship had we sneaked in, and it would have been a case of too much too quickly - we just aren't quite ready yet but make no mistake, with the right signings, we will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
