It's just words and gives people something to argue about.
If you're going to define world class as those who would be first up in a squad to play the Martians then you'd exclude an awful lot of fine footballers.
Also, the tendency of people to think that Not World Class = Crap is daft.

Diego making a fool of himself is a daily occurrence. Yeah top ten is probably about right for goalies but midfield would need more

World class to me is someone that would get into a squad of WC players so you can't have 15 WC forwards.

    Also, Walker?! <yikes>

Hes meh defensively and going forward, he's not even the best RB at Spurs!

To be able to get into a best world squad is too restrictive imo. In discussing world class I think we need reference points for comparison. As someone said earlier in the 2010s we could currently have a number of really great goslkeepers but only a couple of truly great full backs. Just because we can't squeeze that GK in a group of three does not mean he is not WC. Same as another defender who is top 2 in his position but the field this season is very limited and therefore would get in although nowhere near in another decade.

How do we properly define world class? Why not use the greats of the past? Who can compare with Gordon Banks or Lev Yashin? Who can compare with Pele or Maradona?

Wow boys in a school yard. I know Diego likes to pick a few fights and WUM a few times but generally he's pretty good at holding his own :p.

As for Romero being world class, he called him top class, he'd have been dumb to call him world class.

As for Astro and Diegos mating dance... i'm steering well clear of that <laugh>

Trippier is a much better attacking full back. His ability in final 3rd is brilliant, created 5 clear cut chances v Watford.

Hes meh defensively, but so is Walker. Just Walker has the extra pace

Splitting top class and world class, sounds like you want to make their bromance a threesome.

Top class but not top top class?

He put Romero in the same class as De Gea who every Manc thinks is #worldclass so Romero is therefore also #worldclass

Ok fair enough if you line the other guy... but by any measure aside from your view of trippiers potential walkwr is no 1 or 2 rb in this league currently and would be somewhere on a list of top 10.

Im not saying you are wrong or in 2 years someone else like trippier might be playing but right now...

World Class in the recent past was the Barca maestro, Xavi!!!! World Class defenders, the Juve pair, the Atletico player Godin. World Class strikers at the moment, Luis Suarez, CR7, Lewindowski, Neymar. And Messi is just Messi, although Juve did a brilliant job on him last Tuesday and gave him minimal space. In the PL of the British contingent, Harry Kane. As for Alli, is he really in the same class as Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes? I doubt it!!

World class players in the premier league, are there any?
Couple keepers maybe, Hazard can come close too and maybe De Bruyne. A lot of very good players, but we all are really falling behind to European teams.

I would say 3 things on prem.

    1. Lack of european success blunts most players rwps.

    2. International success elevates certain players up imo.

    3. De gea and lloris imo are world class along with neuer and buffon... maybe xourtois or cassilas riunds out top 5.

Nobody else really comes close imo. They just dont. Zlatan is the closest one and would prob be in top 10 strikers on a non biased calling of it.

Nowhere close to world class and frankly none would make top 25 imo.

    <laugh> <laugh>

I just had a quick look at the season before Suarez left us [seeing as you said he only played well the last season to get his big move - and <laugh> to that btw] He got us 22 points that season - so no nothing like Lukaku. But you know that anyway.
