So Man Utd have 2 #worldclass keepers, #worldclass defenders, a #worldclass midfielder, a #worldclass striker, and a #worldclass manager

And they're going to finish just above Everton who have the most #worldclass #worldclass striker

 

Nice to know you think they are all world class, it does expose your football knowledge a little bit though

 

I think they're all crap, but Man Utd fans insist most of their players are #worldclass and Jose is taking them forward

Just like people also say Lukaku is amazing but all I see is a #bottler that goes missing every time his team needs him then pads his stats with meaningless goals against #nomarks

I don't think we have a single #worldclass player in the entire PL at the moment. Hazard is closest but disappearing last season because he was in a strop is not the behaviour of a #legit winner. Suarez wanted to win every second of every game.

There are a few "world class" players in the PL at the moment (not many admitted).
Suarez played for a big move and nothing else, now Barca are struggling a bit he has gone missing.

Lukaku is one of the top 4 strikers in the PL and the fact that you can't see this speaks volumes about you
(pads his stats against nomarks how many did Suarez score against Norwich )

 

Yeah I didn't see Stones being worth £50m either #footballgenius

Suarez did it at against everyone and when people discussed him they had many better arguments before having to resort to his stats

 

So basically you are saying if somebody (like you) resorted to stats, Suarez would not have won very many points for Liverpool.
A bit like Lukaku then with Everton

This discussion comes time and time again. And every time people have to be reminded that it is important for all to use to use the same definition of the term "world class". Otherwise we are trying to speak to each using different languages and not able to have any discussion at all.

When we say "world class" do we mean " able to play for and coveted by any top team (club or national) in the world?If we use THAT specific definition then Delli Alli as an example could be classified as currently world class. Also people need to think that in common usage this definition is not fixed and can be temporary. Torres was world class when playing for us but nowhere near that when playing for Chelsea.

Using that definition it is clearly silly to say we don't have any world class players in the premiership at the moment. Hazard and Kante for Chelsea, Coutinho for us, Degea (Pogba ? I don't want to start a debate about him ) for the Mancs, Aguero Silva for City, Alli for Spurs.

If we use the definition of "regularly deciding an outcome of a match on his own" (like Messi or Ronaldo) then we have fewer: Hazard this season, Degea last season, Aguero previous season.

 

I've always felt its far to bandied about and really there should only be a very short list of elite players in any position.

e.g goal keepers.. there s atop 5 globally.

 

Its always difficult with this discussion but you are on the right lines with a shortlist for each position. We then have to move onto how short is a shortlist eg i think your goalie list is a bit short.

Ps if "name a world class goalie" was a question on family fortunes you can imagine les dennis' reaction when diego answers with Romero!

yes but.... its a little unfair to only have the possibility to have 3 strikers who are then world class. we could probably list 5/6 easy right now

A top 5 ranking is in my view a interesting way to go

striker:

Messi, ronaldo, suarez, neymar, lewandowski... I could probably add another 3/4 to that list. Would you limit it downa and only say 3 are world class and sorry then neymar?

Alos at Rb.. 2 only seems very unfair to me when you could name 5. Lahm stand head and shoulders above the rest but piszczek, lichtsteiner, walker, bellarin, alves, carvajal should all be argues for.. would you pick one?

For me is it a top 5 or 10.. probably a top 5 for the real elites.

After that there sporbably a wider list of very good guys round the leagues but utds reserve isn't.
