Tadic as the number 10 has been as much turning point as the arrival of Gabby. Creativity and movement that seemed to be lacking are now apparent. Although Long's finishing is still largely lacking his movement since Gabby's injury has allowed us to play the same system. Given we were without VVD, Romeu and Gabby yesterday arguably the spine of the team out, with the exception of Tadic, we managed to play the same system well.
He's confusing shots with shots on target. They had a lot of shots against us....far more than most manage, but probably too many from distance.
I've never really doubted Puel. I always knew he'd come good. In this era we've had good managers and I just expected it to continue. We don't appoint lightly; we do it so differently from anyone else. Other clubs seem to be scared to be manager-less for a week. We just take our time and find the right person. I don't think we'll give him another season, I think he'll be given as many seasons as he wants. I rather hope that he wants a large number of years in Southampton. Vin
Conversely, he loves being here, has a new baby girl and may figure the money can wait? Our contract offer will be somewhat better now than it would have been in Jan, maybe he'll stay Is living in China at all difficult for a Japanese family? The countries don't enjoy the best of relations
We need some continuity and give managers time. Tbf, I think Les would like to have been able to do that in the past, but they tend to jump ship. I'm hoping that Claude's less than exciting public face will keep him hidden from predators.
I think it was you who mentioned a long time back when people were battering Claude, that he hadn't been able to get good time coaching them due to our huge number of fixtures during the first half of the season. We've had a few longer breaks now and guess what........ his coaching seems to be working. If it wasn't you who said it, then I'll claim it
On MOTD I thought Pulis just said Shots. They had two/three really good chances yesterday that ended up higher than a Harry Arter penalty
That's not what I read him say on the beeb, he was saying that there must be something fundamentally wrong with Shaw for Mourinho to go public and said that SAF would deal with a player in a similar way. I totally agree that what Mouriho has done with Shaw is disgraceful and tantamount to bullying.
I think Ferguson would have yelled at Shaw and frightened the bejeesus out of him, but moan to the press....I'm not so sure (unless my memory is failing me).
Just shown our match on Goals on Sunday....only the 5th time I've seen it. Praised us and a valid point was made....we don't allow managers to bring in lots of their own staff...they have to work within our system. Our DNA as Kammi put it.
The other day I was reading that Liverpool must sign VVD and I was thinking just how crap other teams are at developing thei players they already have. Just how bad has Lovren got for example? What about Chambers etc etc. And meanwhile, all our players have improved this season and that must be down to good coaching. It seems that other clubs just can't be bothered (excepting Spurs and Everton and what do they have in common?), so they just keep buying in the 'missing' link. Overall I think Puel has done a massive job this season. Half yesterday's team wouldn't have played with a fully fit squad and yet we pretty much outplayed a decent team.
Mourinho is experienced in this field. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...-carneiros-name-through-the-mud-a7071271.html
Oh, oh, me, that was me. It's almost uncanny how more than one day on the training ground has given Puel a load more tactical flexibility. The second goal v Crystal Palace was the most obvious example, Stephens and Yoshida popping up in the box like that is probably still up on a whiteboard at Staplewood, and now we have two more points than we would have had.
Yeah and if he'd been man enough and humble (ha! Mourinho?!) enough to take a deep breath and apologise to Carneiro it would all have been forgotten in minutes.
