I've noticed a distinct decline in rabbits around the local golf course since we started seeing buzzards and red kites more often. Pity we can't train them to chase off the pesky crows and rooks .......
http://news.sky.com/story/westminst...ho-fell-into-thames-dies-in-hospital-10828091 On a sad note....the woman who fell into the Thames in the incident near Parliament has died.
Yes, just read that. I believe she jumped off the bridge to escape being struck by the Range Rover. So her brave attempt to survive came to nought. A real trajedy.
We get the same with them mobbing buzzards up here on the Mendips. Only get the occasional red kite here but they will no doubt increase as well.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39525596 It doesn't make it any better but apparently she was pushed off the bridge by the car.
A truck has driven into a crowd in Stockholm. Early reports say there are fatalities and the truck was stolen earlier today. One person arrested. This is just going to keep on happening. I don't see how it can be stopped as any town or city is fair game.
Yes, i read that subsequently too. Pretty sure initial reports were that she'd leaped off the bridge. Anyway, just awful. The thing that sticks with me for the longest time in these tragedies is whether these people died while petrified. Did they have time to contemplate their deaths as it was about to happen.? To me that's a horrific thought. I always hope that they never have time before it's all over.
Indeed it will. What we need is a sense of proportion. If (frankly trivial*) attacks like these are treated as important worldwide news, the scumbags who do it have succeeded in their aims, namely to gain publicity. I'd be all for the attacks the other week being covered as "Four people were killed by a car-driving maniac in Westminster today. And in other news..." The attacks would just stop. Unfortunately 24 hour rolling news thrives on this kind of thing and gives these scumbags a feeling that they'll go out in a blaze of publicity. I'd hate modern media to have covered WWII. We'd have given up after six months! Vin *Deaths on UK roads since the Westminster attack: around 76
well yes, the problem with this new "weapon" is everyone's got one, you don't need to buy a gun or make explosives, you don't need the backing of a terrorist cell, you can just get up one day and run people over. These attacks seem to be perpetrated by mentally unstable people with a grudge, not as such real terrorists. Scary.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39529714 The man spared jail after beating his wife with a cricket bat and forcing her to drink bleach has been jailed because he lied about having a job offer from a cricket club. He was originally spared jail because his wife wasn't vulnerable! Good.
Justice served.....eventually. Although, the first verdict was bizarre. Some judge somewhere hanging their head......I hope.
