The Carling Cup Second draw handed the Magpies a trip to Glanford Park, home of League One Scunthorpe United.

And that tie is now confirmed as a 7.45pm kickoff on Thursday August 25th, live on Sky Sports.

Is it on SS1? It's the only one I have. I go to Belgium for the F1 the next day so could be the start of a good weekend.

    Of course.

Everyone wants to see us fail on TV in front of everyone.

Titles a misnomer really, confirmed as the 25th would be correct seeing as the game was due to be played 23rd-25th. Was really up for going but I'm half tempted to sack it for TV and wait for the next round, away game kitty is rather small this season.

You'll be closer! Even easier to go, set up tent Thursday avo, drive to Scunny, back to Leeds Thursday night. You'll only miss Young Knives on the Thursday night intro bit and will have plenty time to catch up drinking. Lad who sits next to me drove from Leeds to SJP and back for a Sunday game one year...

Well it's like in the Premier League when a game is usually on a Saturday , it could be moved to a Sunday or Monday.

But before those television fixtures are announced , they are said to be played on the weekend of whatever week it is.

haha, fantastic! I would if I could, but I don't have a car myself so would find it difficult! I live (when not at uni in Manchester) ridiculously close anyway, in Lincolnshire, so it would have been an easy game to get to!

    Bad timing!

Thats not true though, the fixture list comes out in June or whenever with dates and times for all games which are then changed as per TV/police etc requirements. These Carling Cup fixtures were always advertised as taking place between the 23rd-25th August. Pointless argument though, setting off for the Toon shortly!

Yes I know that but when the fixtures come out in June , they are indirectly said to be played over a weekend of for example 19-20 August , even though it just say Saturday 3pm. So technically it's the same like in the League Cup , where they will normally all play on a Tuesday at 19.45 , some are moved to other days for TV/Police advice.

    Anyways , who gives a **** , just gimme 3 points this evening <laugh>
