<laugh> No it's no laughing matter...

    Moyes has done a naughty.

    Here's your chance Ellis

STADIUM OF FIGHT: David Moyes has been accused of bullying
In the footage he says: “It was getting a wee bit naughty at the end there so just watch yourself. You still might get a slap even though you’re a woman.”

He added: “Careful the next time you come in.”

If Short is the ruthless businessman he's portrayed to be then there's his chance to save money on compensation and save the club from Moyes

My mate at work just brought this up - it's an ideal scenario if it's meant in the way it's conveyed.

Context is everything and the chances are we won't ever get to see the footage so the papers/SAFC can save face (depending on which one is in the wrong)

We've all joked on saying "You're asking for a slap" and similar - but if the footage proves that he wasn't joking on then he should be fired with immediate effect as I would be

The video gives the audio, which is enough to sack him.

The guy was obviously joking, but if the reporter had decided it wasn't funny, I reckon he'd have been up in front of the FA 9am this morning.

I guess it's the kind of thing that if you were looking for an excuse to sack someone you could make a big deal out of or if you had no intention of doing so you'd brush aside as a joke that has already been apologised for.

It'll be interesting to see how Short deals with it, he'll probably say nowt about it.

My opinion is that Short doesn't want to sack him.

This sort of thing is grounds for dismissal in my view, if you're desperate to get him out of the way for free.

I remember something similar at Newcastle, didn't Pardew headbutt a player or a linesman? Then he could have got sacked, think the Newcastle fans were hoping for it, but nothing happened.

I just want rid and I was chuffed when he signed for us. Results, performances, team selections, effort have been the worst since Wilkinson. The players get their fair share of blame. If the manager can't motivate you at least play for the fans/club. Allerdyce may not have been a tactical genius but I bet he got the players in the fight frame of mind. I want a younger more enthusiastic manager in who can guide us in the Championship and back to the premiership. On the plus side at least I got a discounted sunderland kit for my lad who is 8 today.

Ah right. Fair enough. Is an apology sufficient? Probably!

It all depends on the context really.

If the cameras are off and he's said in a joking manner "That was getting a bit naught, I'll give you a slap you know even though you're a lass" with a fun, jokey mood then it's innocent and he really has nothing to apologise for to be fair. If it was said with anger and aggression then he should be fired - without seeing the video then it's all assumptions

Is nobody watching the video in the link?

He's definitely said it in a jokey way, without a doubt.

I'm not trying to make this something it's not, but it's an easy out for Short if he wants rid for free.

Sunderland boss David Moyes says he "deeply regrets" telling a BBC reporter she might "get a slap".

After a draw with Burnley on 18th March, Moyes was asked by Vicki Sparks if the presence of owner Ellis Short put extra pressure on him.

He said "no" but, after the interview, added Sparks "might get a slap even though you're a woman" and told her to be "careful" next time she visited.

"It was in the heat of the moment," said Moyes.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager, who apologised to Sparks following the incident, added: "I deeply regret the comments I made.

"That's certainly not the person I am. I've accepted the mistake. I spoke to the BBC reporter, who accepted my apology."

The BBC confirmed that Moyes and Sparks had spoken about the exchange and the issue had been resolved.

A spokesman said: "Mr Moyes has apologised to our reporter and she has accepted his apology."

However, shadow sports minister Dr Rosena Allin-Khan called on the Football Association to get involved.

"This is disgraceful. David Moyes cannot get away with these sexist threats - the FA must take action immediately," she said.

Former England striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker also condemned Moyes' behaviour.

"Moyes incident highlights a tendency for some managers to treat interviewers with utter disdain. Pressured job. Well rewarded. Inexcusable," he said.

Sunderland are bottom of the Premier League on 20 points, eight points from safety.

i think the fa should get involved and make a show of it, the filthy foul mouthed sexist scum bag, and while they are doing him they should dock us 10 points to put us out of our misery, oh and start next season off with -10 points and we have to play all our home matches behind closed doors, oh and add a transfer ban as well.

One colleague of Vicki Sparks, who asked not to be named, said last night: “This is disgraceful bullying and sexism ending with a chilling warning.”

Funny that he's asked not to be named, what a stupid pompous dickwad. Knew he'd look like the biggest **** on the face of the planet so nicely hid behind the veil and spouted is holier than thou horseshit.

You can tell from the atmosphere and way everyone is laughing that there's no malicious intent, if Short wants to try to swing a sacking from this one in terms of gross misconduct, he'll have a proper battle on his hands.

Mourinho, Ferguson, etc have said far worse than this, Mourinho's treatment of the doctor was bullying, this isn't.
