Three for me: Look Closer each way 11/2 (each way edge - first 5 places.) Bleu Berry 9/4 Invitation Only 6/4 Look Closer - speculative bet on the combination of Blackmore and Holden more than anything although there is enough in the run LTO to suggest the horse will be competitive in a poor to average Irish Maiden. Bleu Berry put in a top run LTO. Cantered all over the field two out and then battled really well when push came to shove on heavy ground. Today's going should be fine and i'd be surprised if a reproduction of the run LTO was not sufficient to win. Invitation Only - the run LTO looked a bit disappointing at the time but it turns out he came up against two of the best staying novice hurdlers in Ireland. Nothing of that ilk in this field although Run For Dave is a hardy, improving novice who could pose a few problems if over his Martin Pipe exertions. This represents Invitation Only's best opportunity to win a grade 2 between now and the end of the season as he won't be beating Monalee or Death Duty should they meet again so i would expect him to be wound up. I'd class him as a very good yardstick. Not top table but much better than most Irish novices. If today is something's Gold Cup then he's vulnerable but if no one is pointing their horse at today then he should be winning.
Faityhouse 5.10 Kristian going well, been handed tip just passing on also like like Coventry to win over 90 mins @3/1
Nicely done by Bleu Berry-Jumped very well throughout the race-Well done Bob,see you were on as well. I'm going take on the Invatation Only with Run for Dave in the next who might have a better fitness advantage due to his recent third in Martin Pipe which hopefully shouldn't have taken to much out of the old boy
The speculative each way ran as the market expected with the 100/1 shot finishing last in the field. Handicaps for the future and probably low grade ones at that. Delighted with Chemical Charge after his string of seconds he managed to win today and win well too. The slight improvement in the ground possibly a contributing factor and he will be knocking about some Group 2/3's this season I'd imagine. The change of scenery could prove a very positive thing for the horse.
Well done with winners lads. An almost day for me. A win, second and a nowhere. Invitation Only as crap as i thought he was a while ago but talked myself into thinking he was decent following the third LTO. Ah well. Emptied both barrels on Federer to beat Nadal in Miami this evening at 3/4. I expected him to be around 1/2.
Didn't see the Invitation Only race...did he look fit or tubby on the backside? A few of Willie's seem to be carrying some condition and then some seem to be ok or getting away with it.
A little left to work on i'd say but not enough to go out like a light. He must be a terrific workhorse to garner his reputation but on what he's produced on the track i'd err on the side of massively overrated.
I said that here before he raced Death Duty a few months ago and was shot down by the beeforsalmon! I think he's slightly overrated but maybe he will improve with age and fences. Time on his side. Hope he does prove us wrong. Strange season for the Mullins yard hasn't it been.
You were spot on before the last race then. Beefy's blinded by anything Willie Mullins. He's had loads of over rated horses.
Woah! Just caught up with Cork and the first race there won by Downforce. What a performance that was...12 lengths easing down over 6 furlongs. Heavy ground there today but he could be shaping into a nice 5 y-o. Let's hope it's not a false dawn for him. Edit: wrong age
