Who do you think will start today ? Will Martin keep his place ? Will Harding keep the shirt ? Jaidi has now recovered from his knock he picked up & is fit according to the OS. Plus Seaborne has got over his virus. This means all 3 are in contention for the shirt & all 3 fit to play. Last week Martin started & did ok but It will be interesting to see who Adkins chooses to play today now that they are all fit. Must be nice for Adkins to have selection headaches like this. Will Fox play before Dan Harding today ? personally think Harding will start today & Fox will be included at a later date. Again hard choice, also as where will Dickson feature this season ?
I hope neither start. Would be ridiculous, Martin isn't good enough under pressure and Fox has hardly trained with the team. Harding and Jaidi/Seaborne for me.
Martin did alright, didnt make any major mistakes ? Why are you people so quick to criticise a young player with little experience, give him a break.
I'm a massive fan of Martin, he's our best partner for Fonte IMO and is only going to improve by playing more games. It's difficult to know whether Harding or Fox will play, but don't forget Dickson could also be given the nod.
Martin played well in my opinion, made a couple of errors under pressure yes. But as stated above he is a young upcoming player gaining experience as each game passes. If i saw Jaidi's name on the teamsheet ahead of Martin id be a hell of a lot more uncomfortable through the 90 minutes than with Martin. As for the left back spot i think Harding will start ahead of Fox due to the short term Fox has been training with the club.
Have you been smoking? Martin was solid against Leeds, and was unlucky to give away the penalty. He will improve more by playing more games. Or do expect him to do that by sitting on the bench?
Seaborne for me. Him & Fonte great partnership. Seaborne Improves with games, proved this last season before he picked up injury. Great pre season with Fonte. Shame he didn't start last week due to illness. Jaidi love the big man but has had a knock and had a quiet pre season Harding as Fox not trained with team enough. Will be telling today who Adkins favours now they are all fit.
Martin for me - Jaidi will struggle unless Haynes doesn't play, and Seaborne looked very poor against Torquay the other night.
I think Seaborne is more a home player. He is good against pace but will struggle with balls played in the box. Martin for me - he and Fonte could create a brilliant partnership.
It's strange, I was not worried when Jaidi appeared on the team sheet last season and he was everpresent in our record breaking defence...But this season is a different story. Maybe its harsh to judge him on pre-season but when i saw him he looked all over the place and clumsier than normal. Even if Fox had trained all week with the squad i would still start Harding. I think Fox should have time to settle in and then fight for his place like everyone else. No special treatment (even if Maynard or any other striker came in), I would like to see them earn their stripes first.
Martin gotta start, he was mostly superb against Leeds and doesn't deserve to be dropped IMHO, him a fonte worked well together and martin can only get better Harding will also start, Fox hasn't had too much time blending in so will be on bench i think
i've played against Martin, we tore him and eastleigh a new one. Play high up on him and put him under pressure he doesn't know what to do. Torquay did this and he made several mistakes. Against Leedswho played one up top, he didn't have that issue, although several times he was out of position and made a couple of bad decisions that put team mates under pressure.
are you actually going to give him a good chance in the 1st team? he's obviously doing well for us so give him more of a chance in the team because every player whoever they are has a bad game here and there so you playing against him shouldnt mean thats how he plays all the time now is it?
To improve Martin's confidence, thus possibly making him better under pressure, surely showing faith in him and starting him could be a good thing?
Good against pace? Is he? I seem to remember numerous occasions against a certain Craig Mackail-Smith where Mr. Seaborne didn't know what to do with CMS running past him.
Think that is one game you are refereeing to in the season. Surely a player can't be judged on one game. Yeah agree that game he was poor. Seaborne like several others last season did have nightmare games. Remember poor Harding one game having a mare & then being taken off the pitch,. Trouble is, if they were perfect every game or didn't have the odd mare of a game, they would be playing in the premiership. Same as Martin can't be judged on his 1 performance in the championship last week. That's why Adkins will show who he prefers today. He has seen Martin performance against Leeds, knows what Jaidi has in the locker & knows Seaborne from training pre season etc.
Adkins will show what he thinks today. He did get a chance last week and showed what he can do. Now all 3 fit to play, Martin Jaidi Seaborne, will he play again today, having had the chance to prove that shirt was his. Today will show IF he is first choice, if he starts. Good luck to him if he does get the shirt.
