Just finished watching Interstellar for the 2nd time. And it was a lot more rewarding than the first time a couple of years back. Back then I really enjoyed it. This time it was just seamless. Once again, the Nolan brothers produce brilliance. I know there were people who thought it was boring. I doubt whether they'll give it a second chance, but I would ask them to give it a try. There are far worse films out there, even if they are easier to watch. Think I might The Martian another go too, within a few days.
I also watched Interstellar for a second time and found it a lot better. Saw the Martian for the first time on a flight to Malaysia recently, enjoyed it a lot, not sure why it won a comedy award though?.
I thought Interstellar was excellent, I have loaded it on my android ready for my next flight to watch again, plus I enjoyed The Martian and would definitely advise watching again.
Did any of you read the book first before watching the Martian? Whilst it was one of the better 'book to film' versions, the book was so much better.
Books are often better. I have sometimes watched a film and thought, 'I bet that's a good book.'.....can't remember ever reading a book and thinking it would make a good film.....a good book is satisfaction enough.
I've read lots of books and wished someone would make them into a film or TV series. Amazon Prime obliged with their series "Bosch"
Great if they get it right....this is where casting comes in. However, we might have different ideas about the characters....that's why books are so good....they don't spoon feed you....you use your imagination.
Only time the opposite has been true for me recently (or possibly ever) was with the book/film 'Room'. I personally enjoyed the film far more than the book.
I find that radio dramas can sometimes be better than the book, and often better than a film, simply because radio does all of the telling but leaves all the imagination to the listener. For example, the very recent film Alone in Berlin. Great book [very dark and based on a true story], but the radio drama was incredibly vivid. By comparison, the film was quite watered down and sanitised.
