For me, personally it would probably be ZAMINDAR. I think he is highly underrated as a sire and considering his record with fillies – 4 G1 winners including ZARKAVA – I think he is a steal at £12,000. In fact I’d say the only reason his fee is that low is because all his G1 winners have been fillies, he has yet to prove he can sire a top-level colt. It is probably difficult to say that DUBAWI is “good value” considering his recent hike in fee to £55,000 but he does have an astonishing record – 6 G1 winners and his oldest crop are only 4! He has certainly made the impact that it was hoped his ill-fated sire would and it will be interesting to see how his paternal half-brother ECHO OF LIGHT does, he is off to a reasonable start with 2 winners from just 11 runners so far. He was a late-maturing sort, like his sire, and did not run until the latter half of his 2 year old season. It could be that, with his fee at only €3,000 it is an excellent opportunity to buy into a top class bloodline.
i haven't a clue about horse racing and would to love what a NAP is. Also wheres the best place/web site to get tips on the horses??? Thank you in Advance PN
Hi PN. I might be wrong but I have a feeling that you've got a job which is connected with the Darley/Godolphin operation (apologies if I'm incorrect). If that's the case then do you have any info about White Moonstone? Are we likely to see her racing again or has she been retired? Thanks.
princess, can you explain he suffix after a horses name (gb,ire, usa etc ) take seville (ger) for example, he's german bred by that suffix, but he's by galileio (ire) silverskaya (usa) -silver hawk(usa) breeder was tatterasall ltd - where is the german in that??????????
Apologies for not replying before now, but I moved house on 12 August and have not had an internet connection until coming back to work today! Chance I used to work for Darley so do have some connections still there. As far as WHITE MOONSTONE goes she is still listed as in training on the Godolphin website, so I presume the intention is still there for her to keep going until the end of this year at least. On the website Simon Crisford said (in July): "White Moonstone and Saamidd are in light training. Hopefully, Saamidd will come back quicker than White Moonstone. "We don’t know yet whether White Moonstone will make it to the track this year - she needs a bit of time. We will have a better idea towards the end of next month." greatpilsudski the suffix the follows a horse's name is the country in which he/she was born. So Seville was born in Germany, Galileo was born in Ireland, Silverskaya in the USA, etc, etc. It means that names of horses can be reused as a name can be registered in several different countries - for example there are at least 19 horses that have carried the name "GALILEO" over the years. A name can be reused in the same country 10-20 years after the death of the horse, but certain names are protected if the horse wins a "protected" race or becomes very well known. Galileo's name will not be allowed to be used again in any major racing nation because he is now such an influential stallion that his name has been added to the protected list. You can see the most recent version of the protected list here: http://www.horseracingintfed.com/resources/NP_2011.pdf Hope that helps.
Thanks PN. On the subject of horses with the same name, I overheard a conversation in the bookies during the 2002 Cheltenham Festival where one guy was telling his friend that Galileo was a good thing for the Sun Alliance Hurdle because he'd won the previous year's Derby! Sometimes ignorance can be bliss!
so seville then was bred /conceived at coolmore as galileo stands there, then the broodmare then shipped over to germany to give birth??
Got it in one. It is very common to ship mares around once they are in foal, though obviously, like pregnant women, you want to do it early on in pregnancy rather than late on. It is pretty common practise to send a mare to give birth at the stud where the stallion you want to use is standing, as it is easier to move a pregnant mare around than a mare and a newborn foal. So, if you wanted to Galileo one year (in Ireland) and Monsun (in Germany) the next, you would send your mare to Galileo and get her in foal. As you got nearer to the new season, say in about November, you'd send her to Germany ready to give birth and be covered as soon as possible afterwards.
Hi Princess, Frankel is by Galileo out of Kind and has proved to be a top race horse, why doesn't kind visit galileo again to try to replicate anoth Frankel?
I'm pretty sure Frankel has a full brother, he's now 2, though I don't think he's made his debut yet. Im sure I've heard he's with Henry Cecil aswell
http://www.racingpost.com/horses/ho...=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_form Noble Mission "Frankel has a two-year-old brother called Noble Mission in training with Henry Cecil and a yearling half-brother and foal half-sister both by Oasis Dream"
Thanks Nass, I knew I had heard it somewhere. It will be very interesting to see what sort of price he goes off at for his debut race
There is a 2yo full brother in training with Henry Cecil, his name temporarily escapes me but he holds an entry in the Racing Post Trophy. I'm not sure about Kind's other produce as I don't have the necessary info to hand, but theoretically there is nothing to stop Juddmonte sending Kind to Galileo again. However, as Frankel was bred under a foal share agreement with Coolmore (in this instance Juddmonte send a group of mares to Coolmore stallions each year free of charge. The deal means that one year Coolmore get first pick of the foals and the next year Juddmonte) I do wonder if Juddmonte will just send her to their own stallions from now on.
It is probably the Galileo influence that makes Frankel so good though. I would hardly call her other son Bullet Train a top class horse. Kind was only a listed performer afterall
PN, a guy asked me about a horse called Linda Green, his wife,s name,I said I didn,t know but I know a lady who does. Does she have any sons or daughters ready to race.? Thanks in advance.
