I wonder if Fiddler Martin is looking to boost the invaders warchest with a gamble on KINNITTY CASTLE at Stratford tomorrw.......POPP-PP
The form is in the book anyway. You know Tony will have them trying 100% anytime they make the track... ...said no one. Ever. Brave man to back it but it certainly wouldn't surprise if he landed a punt to cover his week.
As Nass rightly points out there is one more bumper before Cheltenham and one I like a lot at a very decent price! HIGH NOON 8/1 Stratford 4.50 By a sire a like in Westerner and a half brother to four decent horses inluding the very useful Operating and the bumper winner Galoshes. The yard know how to have one ready for a bumper and I am a little surprised at the price. The favourite, Out Of Style, is obviously highly regarded from a yard that has been superb in bumpers this year. He has already won a p2p in Ireland but will go off short enough for me and his decent half brother, Risk A Fine, was beaten on his bumper debut with a very similar profile.
Thought you would be on Clondaw Castle with the form loosely tying in with the race you got several bumper winners from. He fell behind Caderyn when held in his P2P. Caderyn took care of Absolute Power on bumper debut but struggled under the penalty at Toaster thereafter.
I always look to oppose two types. Those carrying a penalty (its tough) and p2p winners (bred to stay). I bet most Irish p2p races go a stronger gallop than UK bumpers. Very interesting for me by the way that Elliot saved his mare for Cheltenham rather than win the listed race at Sandown.
Now Ben in the Hunters. He ran at Barbury Castle in a good p2p on seasonal return finishing a fair fourth and then won easily next time out. I think he is the one to beat old boy Olofi here, who looked like he was vulnerable when Supreme Danehill left him clear at Leicester. 6s was too big.
Just the one for me tomorrow before the big day on Tuesday! 750 Chelmsford Havelock 3/1 Dropped a furlong in trip and now off level weights. Will busy out and not be headed.
NJORIS SAGA with a gun to my head. Dam was useful and won her bumper. The yard have been banging in winners left right and centre recently.
I'm hoping Storm Alert. 2.50 Chepstow will be swelling my coffers for the big events!!! Also backed Solighoster in the 1st at Plumpton. Quite like Harry Reed and the 7lb might just make the difference here.
Looked the likely winner to me. Wouldn't have bothered posting anything otherwise. They must have had a good gamble on it as it was 6/1 when I last saw the price.
