He won't resign mid season... think he has to go this time though come the end of the year. Even if they get top 4 again (which I've had doubts about since pre season).

If ever a manager has lost the dressing room, Wenger has. Those players deserve kicking around the Emirates for lack of backbone but ultimately, as we saw the other day at Leicester, it's the manager who carries the can.

He's just not good enough anymore, hasn't been for quite a few years now. This even with the red card, is a new low though.

I can't wait for DTLW to give us the inside skinny on tonight's debacle!

I don't think Wenger has the backbone to take the can, and the Arsenal board don't have the backbone to sack him. No doubt he'll point to the penalty and straight red card which changed the game. The really bad thing is Arsenal caving in, and that is down to Wenger because that's twice in two matches. A leading club in Europe doesn't get beaten 10-2.

    DTLW the poor bugger...

I Just had a right result at work as well. The night shift turned up early so I left at 10-2 <whistle>

That's exactly what he did, and he had a point, because it was in no way a red. His mindset though, was that once they were down to 10, and needing 4 goals, it was impossible. That is not the attitude of a leader, you can't ever give up hope, or let your players give up hope. Arsenal could have put up a brave fight and gone down, say, 6-4 on aggregate, and no one would mind too much, but just chucking in the towel in a major, televised-round-the-world, Champions League game is not what you want to see from one of the most experienced managers in the game. For goodness' sake, I feel let down, and I'm not even an Arsenal fan!

Yes. I don't know about the penalty as I was listening on the radio at that point and found a stream afterwards, but apparently the penalty was given and a yellow was brandished. Then the 4th official behind the goal told the ref that from his view, Koscielny made no attempt to play the ball. Under those circumstances a straight red is the rule [apparently].

My main point was that the Arsenal attitude was appalling. Caving in is just not an option even when down to 10 players. If they had kept it 1-1 or 1-2 at The Emirates, then maybe they would have some dignity intact. Managers generally walk immediately afterwards

Looks like Wenger has seen a different game. Amazing how he sees so much stuff when the decisions go against him.

Oops, just realised my copy and paste didn't work. Here is:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking BT Sport: "There are difficult aspects in the game that explain that we're out. I feel we produced the game we wanted and we were really unlucky with some of the decisions. It's really hard to understand.

"It's definitely a penalty on Theo Walcott, Lewandowski is offside and after the red card it was very difficult for us to finish the game. My team has produced a huge effort tonight and played very well."

Is it true Sanchez was laughing when the last goal went in?

I think I was. It was ridiculous, and I wouldn't blame him for doing so.

I wonder if Koeman is so adamant to stay at Everton after tonight. He's making familiar noises regarding staying. That means nothing, as we know.

Enrique announced last week that he was leaving Barcelona the end of the season, with the effect that it has reenergised the squad, so if Wenger is going to go, he could announce his impending departure in the next week or so. That might just galvanise the squad to up their game as it was limp against Liverpool, while no more needs to be said about last night.

It will be interesting to see how far Barcelona can eat away into that 4-0 deficit. Eat away into it, they surely will. And if they exit it will hurt them and I would just pity their next opponents.
