New day new challenge. Fancy a nice treble: 310 Fontwell CHANDOS BELLE 2/1 Getting weight from them all and won't have a better chance to win. 320 Catterick GOLDEN VISION 5/4 Only danger is All My Love but this one should have improved past it after they last met. 330 Lingfield SOLOJAN 11/8 Went close on debut and should have plenty to go one better this time.
On another note, what is the oldest horse to run in a Supreme? Moon Racer has to be up there as an 8 yr old?
I fancy a couple during the day tomorrow but my main bet and nod to you guys is for; OUR CHANNEL 5/2 Kempton 5.45 Record on Polytrack is three wins and a place from five runs. Won this race off a one pound lower mark last year and surely has an outstanding chance of beating the favourite who has wintered in Dubai. He also won this month last year off 2lb higher when with William Haggas.
The oldest by a long way was Fulke Walwyn's 12-year-old Beau Caprice who won a division of the Supreme Novices in 1966? In those days it was called the Gloucestershire Hurdle, and was often split into two or three divisions. Quite an animal was Beau Caprice, he was a hunter, charger (at Knightsbridge barracks), horse trials, hunter again, and a racehorse...
Morning, pilgrims. I’m sure the chap we will all be looking to for winners today is old boy, Pip Hammond. Although personally I will find it strange to see a Budget not delivered by dear old ‘Giddy’ Osborne. As they used to say round my way, ‘He’ll look after us will Giddy’ and indeed he always did. God bless him and save him. Pip, I trust you will do the same later on. Quick Cheltenham query. If the Festival Bumper is oversubscribed (as it may be) what criteria is used to ballot out the runners??? Good luck to those wagering today.
3.30 Lingfield- Soljan- 2/1 From a girl in the Dunlop yard -Max bet what she said to me but I don't know about that a week before cheltenham, The horse was acting up in the stalls and still managed to finish second she said the team have been working on that and its improved
15:10 Compiegne - Bonnie And Clyde (Speculative punt as still a maiden, good breeding for distance though).
Well, at last busted a long losing run. Bonnie And Clyde by a head at €7.10 on the PMU. Phew! Gosh, if you want to see desperately heavy going watch this. The winner put in a very game performance on this ground, as I think Rock Of Gibraltar progeny usually like half-decent going? https://www.zeturf.fr/fr/course/2017-03-08/R4C8-compiegne-prix-de-clairoix
Dissapointed with Our Channel. I thought the favourite would get well beaten and it was but sadly Our Channel was not the beneficiary. The market mover did the business. In the 7:15 Betfair Sportsbook have CASTANEA at 50/1 when he is between 9s and 12s everywhere else. The opportunist in me has had to have a cheeky pony each way.
Frankie 16/1 Kempton Park 7:15 - showed a change of form dropped to a career low mark lto and has a few lbs pull with the fave Smiley Bagel tonight having run him to 1.75L lto. I like the Fox and O'Neil combo and his finish lto suggest he will appreciate this 12 furlong trip too. The overall profile of the race is poor so I'm hoping he can continue on where he left off the last day.
I was excited there for a moment. Travelled into the straight tanking and looking likely to scoot clear...unfortunately the horse was extremely one paced and looked in need of 24 furlongs rather than 14
Actually, scrap that. Right colours but I had wrong number. Frankie was out back and ran on late. It was Mike Murphy's Street Art I confused with mine. Similar colours.
