Lee Johnson will be in charge of Bristol City against Norwich City contrary to sacking rumours By Danjnewman | Posted: March 06, 2017 Lee Johnson will be in charge of Bristol City on Tuesday night contrary to rumours suggesting the head coach will be sacked before the Sky Bet Championship match with Norwich. Johnson has come under mounting pressure from fans following the draw against Burton Albion last weekend, a result that saw the Robins drop into the relegation zone. City have claimed just one win in the league since December 3 and face the likes of Huddersfield and Wigan in the coming weeks. They have now not won a match in the last 13 games. However, despite the large majority of fans calling for his sacking, Johnson will take questions at Monday's pre-match press conference and be in charge of City at Ashton Gate come tomorrow night. A group of fans are also rumoured to be holding a protest prior to the clash with the Canaries. If true I can't believe it, I do not understand what hold this guy has got over Lansdown, Johnson's is a complete fake.. No member of my family or me will be going tomorrow night, that's a first for me, they are taking the piss out of us fans..
Its Lansdowns ego that is stopping him ending LJs reign. He just cannot admit that it was a bad appointment so is going to drag us all down with him.
I don't think it is SL's ego but I cannot for the life of me understand what it is. Maybe Mark Ashton has ultimate say now (though of course SL could intervene at any point) and refuses to take action.
There is absolutely no reason why LJ is still in his job. SL has the power to end all of this and chooses not to. He could and should have acted weeks ago.
Mark Ashton has kept very quiet in all of this. He was on player every five minutes and now appears to be in hiding.
This is a horrible situation that is of the owners making. He has allowed it to fester to bursting point because he appears to be totally inept at his job or even capable of doing the right thing when the whole world can see what is wrong. I hope thousands stay away in protest tomorrow and from home games until Johnson is relived of his duties. This whole farce needs to end now. It may already be too late to avoid the drop, but I'd rather the job went to someone who has a clue as LJ clearly doesn't. This is as bad and as embarrassing as I can ever remember in my nearly 50 years of following the club.
Perhaps Lansdown thinks that relegation is nailed on. Maybe, if he is of this mind, he may be in damage limitation mode therefore not wishing to be paying two managers salaries. Its his mess, only he can sort it.
I'd find it incredible that anyone would think relegation is nailed on whether we have a new manager or not. If we get even a semi-competent new guy in I think we'd beat the drop easily with the squad we have.
As long as LJ is our Manager then relegation is nailed on as things stand. Change the Manager now....give us a glimmer of some hope to cling to. We desperately need wins and we are not getting nearly enough points.
The blind faith is confusing enough, but SL might see something in LJ which we don't see aside from on the pitch. Maybe there's something we don't know, and he thinks we can avoid relegation, fair enough. The thing which baffles me is that the long-term goal is to get us into the Prem. I mean, if we stay up, how do we go into next season expecting promotion under Johnson when form is like this? It sends completely the wrong message.
The hard facts dont lie unfortunately, but I agree it's totally baffling. Our results, form, and our plunge from 11th in the table back in December to 22nd in the table in March tells you he simply isn't up to the job. Anywhere else he would have been sacked weeks ago.
Perhaps, Lansdown does not rate the manager or his signings. If we go down most will have release clauses and most likely we can get rid of Johnson with no compensation. Perhaps his thinking is I can clear the decks and then start again with a new man in charge and save a significant amount, who knows?
Don't even think it gdknac but regrettably you could be right. Apart from money what the hell keeps these buddies together ad nauseum?
