Unlucky Haye, Bellew's best round followed Haye's injury, was downhill for Haye after that...tremendous fight from both fighters. Respect.
Strangest fight I've ever seen, & I wonder why Haye's corner waited so long to throw the towel in. Whatever else you say about Haye though, the guy has heart.
I've just seen that David Haye lost against Tony Bellew, Looks like he won't be fighting Anthony Joshua soon then.
Joshua is the real deal. This was two overhyped cruiserweights pretending to dislike each other to get mugs to pay £17 to watch.
Called it Haye was too heavy and muscle bound, he thought he could take out Tony with a couple of swings. He was wrong The first round was text book from Bellew, Haye was launching at him, but Tony was catching him with solid counters as he came in swinging. He delivered 4 solid shots on Haye in that opener. Tony lost that intense focus a little a couple of times after that though and Haye caught him with a few bombs and one lovely left right combination. Haye appeared shocked that he didn't take him down and to me lost heart. At the time his Achilles went, he was visibly tiring, after that he was reliant on trying to find a single shot win, and it was never going to happen. Fair play to him for not blaming the injury afterwards, but it was a blatant attempt to keep Bellew on side for a rematch. I don't see where Haye goes after this loss, he's slowed dramatically and just looks like a roided specimen to me.
I disagree. At the time Hayes' achilles went, he was comfortably in control. You're right that Haye is too old and has been out of the ring for too long though. As for Bellew, fair play to the guy for achieving what he has with his limited ability but his technique is poor, his condition is poor, he's slow and his head carriage invites disaster. The David Haye of 5 years ago would have demolished him.
He was ahead on points, but he was never comfortably in control of that fight mate Yep, the Haye of old would have been too quick and too clever for Tony, but the washed up money chasing version of the present simply wasn't.
Not in the all time list, maybe. But probably the best in the last 20-25 years, which admittedly ain't saying much.
Not having that. Tyson was a new age boxer and would have murdered Ali, Tyson was an animal in his prime. Beast of a man. Ali wasn't. A debate that will always roar on.
Sorry, mate. I remember Ali very well. In his prime Tyson would have spent 5 or 6 rounds chasing shadows, while Ali slowly cut him to bits.
Overall the better boxer was Ali, no doubt. Put them both together in their prime Tyson would have murdered him, no doubt. People seem to forget Tyson was used to fighting against men with a longer reach. Tyson in his prime would have seriously damaged Ali. Shame Tyson went all pop-star and tarnished his name. Biggest monster boxing has seen, no doubt. Like I said it's a debate that will always divide.
