I agree, we have turned the corner on our attacking due to a certain Italian that who not only scores but his movement allows Redman and Tadic into the game, but we give the ball away too often in midfield which puts pressure on our back four. This was a needed win and we came through, well done to the team and well done Puel.

Do you remember when we didn't give the ball away much in midfield earlier this season by keeping possession but not going anywhere? Lots of complaints about this at the time. When you change to try and get the ball forward more quickly, you increase the risk of giving the ball away. It's a difficult balance to strike. The benefit of keeping possession is that it often makes you harder to beat but maybe less exciting. The benefit of getting the ball forward is that you look more exciting, but maybe give the ball away more.

I won't say that you are grumbling, but I will repeat what I said earlier: who'd be a manager!

THis is just my opinion though, so you don't have to take it as fact :emoticon-0110-tongu

So the question will be asked, was it better to wait for our target to become available or should we have thrown money at the problem and paid a lot more for a striker earlier in the season? I think that the board has been vindicated on that score.
Who knows how this season might have looked if Virgil had not been crocked? Now we are beginning to look like a quality side, and everyone on long contracts. Next season could be very special indeed!

Just came in 15 mins ago, having deliberately stayed away from any sources. Just read the news. Wow.! And Manolo scores again with a goal off a keeper spill. So he's a poacher too.! I don't think we've had a proper one in the team since Steve Moran. Perhaps Kevin Phillips.

Reads as if we were a little charitable at the back again, against a good Watford attack, but scoring freely enough to win. Normally I'm fine with 1-0's, but I'll take a a few 4-3's until VVD comes back. Then we'll make those 4-3's into 4-0's again.

That seems to be is main strength from the evidence so far, people comparing him to Inzaghi are going over the top, but at the moment he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and his movement is great. Just hope he isn't the new Jelavic

So Saints played 7 league games in December, was it 4 in about 10 days over Christmas and New Year? Since February 11 andto the beginning of April the sum of 3 PL or 4 matches in total. So what to for the next fortnight guys? Spain, Portugal, Argentina to give the likes of River Plate match practice. Alternatively, invite River or Boca over given that next week is yet another blank, as there is a footballing strike in Argentina. Pay their expenses, get TV involved to provide a live feed back to Argentina, And in for a quid for paying fans!! Could be good marketing for Saints in Argentina.
Can someone at the Premier League sort out the fixtures so no team has 7 games one month and 1 game another. Totally ridiculous. Cant just be Sky pratting about.

Isn't there another international break coming up? When the World Cup expands to 48 teams, FIFA could do away with the qualifying rounds for the Top 8 teams in Europe altogether.

What makes you so sure we had to wait til January because he was unavailable in the summer? Generally clubs prefer to sell in the summer.

Exactly that. I didn't think we defended that badly, but we had to resort to last ditch blocks/tackles as a direct result of some loose play in the midfield.

The co-commentator on the stream I was watching, was Davie Provan. Does he have a grudge against the Saints? Tried to imply underhand tactics when there were none, such as a Watford player bumping into Cedric, then hitting the turf. Such an innocuous coming together, yet he tried to maklike it was the most heinous crime of the century.
He also pissed me off when he said Romeu was too good for us. :emoticon-0169-dance:emoticon-0170-ninja

Good win and glad Redmond scored. But damn that defending.

Napoli wanted enormous amounts of money for Manolo last summer. They were turning down £20M+ offers. We got him for £14.5M plus extras. Sound bit of business. Board vindicated.
