I'm glad to hear that I seem to be the only miserable bugger on a downer coming into this game.

 

I've found a candidate for the required human sacrifice, lads.

Is it the obvious downer or have you got some special reason.?

 

It's just the obvious downer. I was just so sure that we were going to win after drawing back level, I don't think I've ever been so certain of a Saints win when it was still level. Anyway, we lost and I was disappointed for the players, but incredibly proud, my overriding emotion has been pride. It's only in the last few days that it's crept up on me how disappointed I am that we lost, and all the record books will show of that game is that Man Utd won and we lost. I'll get over it, just at the moment I can't get myself up for a normal premier league game with nothing much riding on it.

 

That was actually a decent press conference. Was able to stick with it....Puel seemed in a good mood and was easier to follow.

Summary: No fresh injuries. Forster is fine...not carrying an injury. When reporter mentioned Gabby's 5 goals, Puel pointed out he had scored 6. Gabby is more than just goals...Claude is pleased with his play. Talked about difficulties with calendar. Two week break was fine before the Cup Final but will be difficult now.....and we will be back to a crowded calendar in April. Watford is now a very important game because of the gap. Talked about problem in 1st game against Watford because internationals returned without the training that the others had. He thinks the performance against United is promising for the future.

 

Don't be too disappointed. You know, and 30K odd other fans know that Saints scored a legitimate goal in the 9th minute of the EFL Final and the whole game swung on that. The record books won't show it but our memories will. For me, last Sunday just showed how strong the team is. We know we we're the better team. Even Mourinho knew we were the better team, as his post match comments showed. And the record books will show us in a better light in a few years to come. Of that I'm certain. This club is getting bigger and stronger and it will change the face of football.

 

I'm on the OS still waiting for the bloody thing to start.

It's not just you. I thought I was okay until I drove round the North Circular today. As soon as I went over the flyover at Staples Corner, there was Wembley with it's giant arch right there in front of me, & my heart died a little bit.

We'll have to go back next season. Have to.

 

I notice that a couple of papers have picked up on Puel's comments about the fixture lists, but he did add that it was the same for other teams....mentioning United's run up to the Cup Final. He was just pointing out that after a couple of matches a week we then had a 2 week gap before the Final (good) followed by a 2 week gap after the Watford game (bad), then back to a busy April. Puel knows as well as us that there is little that can be done if you have cup runs.

 

I'm going to go positive on this one.The players have just had a taste of something special despite the result. Nothing better for it than getting out there again and showing what they can do.

And yes Archers, we have to go again. I've still not recovered properly!

I see Matt Targett is for sale. Note how Claude refers to all his injuries by first names except Matt. Sure sign that the boy's days are numbered. I am going into meltdown now, if that's OK with everyone. Puel out banners must be bought on Saturday.

Despite the banners we are going to win 4-0. I predicted a similar score at Sunderland, but wrongly thought Gabby would score 3. This time he will.

Merson says 1-1 because Watford are not doing enough to win or lose. Guess we will just have to take it out of their hands and beat them then.

 

What kind of rubbish is that.? Once again we are 'the opposition'. This match has got nothing to do with us. We are just there to give Watford someone to play. Mind you, Merson doesn't his dislike of Saints for a second.
