Since my first memory of it is that in 1995 we only had Blackburn in it I've not looked before then. 1 winner, 2 runners up, and 1 4th place if we're talking the season before. 2 winners, 1 5th place, and 1 6th place if we're talking the season they won it. Chelsea - 2011/12 PL - R/U 2010/11 (Man U Champs), 6th 2011/12 (Man C Champs, Tottenham not qualifying in 4th as Chelsea won CL) Man U - 2007/08 PL - Winners 2006/07 & 2007/08 Liverpool - 2004/05 PL - 4th 03/04 (Arsenal Champs), 5th 04/05 (Chelsea Champs, the year Everton finished 4th and didn't qualify as Liverpool won CL) Man U - 1998/99 PL R/U 1997/98 (Arsenal champs), Winners 1998/99 Were the European Cup winners guaranteed a place the next season in the olden days, or did they have to win their league again to get to defend the trophy?
