As Carragher has just said, Lucas shouldn't be at CB as he never has been one and doesn't have the skill set. Seems fair enough. Trouble is none of our other players appear to have the appropriate skill set. Neither does Klopp.
We've been weak in defense since the Hodgeson days. It's been a long time since corners and set pieces didn't make me cringe. ( That goes back to Rafa days). We've had good forwards and good midfielders at various times but our defenders have long been our Achilles heel.
Can we just admit that as much as Klopp likes to develop a player he may have to splash some cash on serious competition Ive said ot before no matter how **** these players play they look at the bench and know they will be playing the next game. Coutinho has been runbish since he came back but he will play no matter what. Can't try that at a club like Chelsea
Agreed. I think Can needs to find what position in that midfield 3 he excels at. He's not decided if he wants to be a defensive midfielder, or a box to box and it shows. Lallana upped his game when he became more direct, but for a couple months now has gone back to being safe. Speaking of safe, Milner... has been found out. Unfortunately his contribution to the attack is slowing us down. I would like for Moreno to get one or two chances now as stupid as that sounds.
Horrible performance so far. First goal was a brilliant pass and harsh to blame Lucas as he's being asked to play high line and his first thought isn't to be inside the CF as he's not a CB. 2nd goal was poor from Mane and Milner. Mane was standing in drinkwater from the throw, got distracted and ran away from him and left him free. Milners header was terrible as well. Header straight back into middle of pitch rather than out wide. Saying all that, brilliant strike.
I'm mostly annoyed as the players don't look like they are even trying. Now with no champions league (yet again) we will struggle with the calibre we bring in.
Teams are working us out way too easily. Push us wide and defend 18 yard box. Not difficult to do. No ones going to win and headers in middle of area and huth and Morgan will be made to look like £40m defenders against us as it's been piss easy for them again. Again comes back back to no plan B, that's not just a tactic, but players to be able to play it. We don't have a Cosa, Ibra, Lukaku, Kane, Giroud who can be a threat
