Re new signings. Monks priority with wide men is that they know their defensive role in the team. We're hard to beat because we defend as a team. Who knows if the new guys have that in their lockers... or the ability to learn their role in a short period of time. Could be they get used only in games where we're chasing the game... or could be they just don't look better in training than what we have.
If you look at the replay of the penalty, you'll see Green didn't save it, it hit the post after bouncing just in front of Greens hand. Considering Rhodes took it, I agree with you, we got away with it......
I take back what I said about the penalty, Ellands highlights were deceiving, the sky highlights show Green did get a hand to it.....
That was an immense save for the penalty, couldn't have been placed better and you wouldn't normally expect a keeper to get there even if he guesses the right way
you might make a joke which is fine by me , but unfortunately other people dont read it the same way anyway appoligies accepted .
doing ok , but it is all down to hard work , hoping leeds united do the same this season and then we might just get to the premiership promised land ! ha ha
LOL I enjoyed the match, second half and all. Got to remember that it was a local derby between two very good teams who play a pressing game, forcing errors from the opposition. And that's exactly what happened - we made mistakes, some forced & some enforced. But so did they! Really enjoyed watching it. I used to watch games through my fingers because you used to be able to drive a cart & horses through our midfield & defence. Yes, teams still cut through us, but there's usually someone there eventually to block or tackle. Someone mentioned earlier that we defend from the front back, and the benefit I get from this is confidence in the team. I never felt they'd score against us at any point. Strangely, that included the penalty too. There have been a few mentions of Greens excellent save, but no-one has mentioned Green's lead-up to it. Watch it again - he effectively dictated which way the shot was going to be placed. Fabulous foot/body feign work by him. Highlight of the match for me - that & Wood's sublime ball control for the goal.
Penalties are tricky in fairness. You have to have a player capable of kicking a ball twelve yards minimum. Don't think you have such a thing
Cheeky ****er. Like what ales he sells is going to make a difference to you. If its ale we both know you will sup it!
