It's a no bet for me but the 33/1 does look tempting

I must say that I was disappointed, and somewhat distressed, by the one word pun employed by the trade daily, on its front page today, to explain Thistlecrack’s absence from the CGC. Displayed a total lack of class.

‘Racing Post’ you’ve let yourself down and you’ve let the sport down. Hang your head in shame.

I really can’t bring myself to say it as it is totally tasteless – may just be me but I’m truly astounded they went with something so crass. But its 2 syllables. The first is the same as the 1st syllable of Thistlecrack’s actual name and the second starts with ‘cr’ and rhymes with and blocked and docked.

Thank you gentlemen! Am a long-winded sod, I am well aware of that, so I'll have to work on a précis! Will put it up if successful. All it is, is just a tale of sometimes, just sometimes, being an expat in foreign lands can be just bloody marvellous. Most of the time it's just normal hard work, occasionally under trying conditions. That's all.

<laugh> Not really, Rainer, I should be so lucky! The location of the tale was a little further south. Down the coast and left-turn to the east just a bit..........

Colin Tizzard plans to have Thistlecrack scanned again on Tuesday following the injury setback that has curtailed his season.

So dominant in the staying hurdle division last term, the nine-year-old has translated that form to fences, winning the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

He was beaten by the ill-fated Many Clouds in the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham, but remained at the head of the Gold Cup betting until suffering a torn tendon.

Tizzard said: "After 36 hours of feeling gutted, I thought 'We'd better move on from this'. It won't be the last one, but we found it early and that's the main thing.

"We are going to scan him again on Tuesday. There was a little tear there, but there is no heat or swelling there now.

"We just want to check again, just to please ourselves really. It is not like he is walking around with his leg in a bandage."

Betfair Exchange report that having been matched at odds of 990.0 following news of his setback, Thistlecrack was trading at 10.0 (9/1) on Sunday evening.

He had been favourite prior to the news and was in fact odds-on between winning the King George and suffering defeat at Cheltenham in January.

Who will be first to say "I took a bit of the 990 on the machine just in case he did make it"

Idiots. There is only one way to properly mend a torn tendon and if they do that there is no way he will be ready for the GC. There is only one way to fix a torn tendon so that he could run in the GC and if they do that the horse will be finished within 18 months.
