    Thoughts?

I personally feel as if Owen Coyle is trying to use this bid to ignite a bid for Gary Cahill. I was shocked when Owen Coyle kept saying how he was amazed that no bids were made for Cahill, it seemed he wanted teams to make offers. Like he said its been over 6 weeks and no offers. He might be a little worried and because he already is interested in bolstering his attack, he might want Liverpool to come out with a counter-offer or an agreement that Bolton discuss terms over Cahill.

Might be a long shot but who knows.

Agreed with you regarding Owen Coyle's comments about Cahill. I think Bolton need the money and that means they need him gone this summer. £12M and N'Gog in a trade for Gary Cahill.

I feel that would be a fair deal for Cahill.

Cahill is far too expensive. Would happily offload Ngog to them though for a few bob!

Hopefully, Arsene does his usual thing and won't offer more than 10p for Scott Dann and we can take him. Younger, cheaper and just as good as Cahill.

Could have a problem with having enough strikers though with just Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll if Ngog goes.

Well they can have N''Gog and if he is used as a bargaining chip for Cahill then so be it.

Agreed actually. (With Chris) £12m isn't bad but that would put our valutation of Cahill at £20m after we valued N'gog at £8m. On the other hand you don't play a valuation of a player you pay what a club want.

I say we sign Enrique, Cahill and possibly one more striker, then thats our summer spending done.

On the conspiracy of the possible Cahill bid spark maybe Coyle's timing it just perfectly. Maybe he wants Liverpool to come in with a counter-offer and with Arsenal selling Nasri and Fabregas, they'll have funds and they've already started discussions over Dann.

Maybe this is to start a bidding war between Liverpool and Arsenal.

I think Coyle knows they have to sell him this summer and his comments were made to re-ignite interest.Aplayer plus cash deal would seem the perfect solution all round.Maybe Kenny is gonna wait it out and test Bolton's nerve like he did Newcastle, risky game in some ways but could pay big dividends the nearer we get to the transfer window.I don't see N'gog ever really making at Liverpool now and I would think cahill would be a good signing.

Wouldn't mind sending N'gog to Bolton on loan for the season. Seems to have done Wilshire and Sturridge the wealth of good. Bolton play some decent football now and it might give N'gog a chance to impress and either stick an extra few million on his price tag or even better make him a real contender for a place back at Liverpool.

On the subject of strikers, Guillem Balague has come out on twitter saying:

"No offer made by Liverpool to Madrid for Higuaín."

Why would he say that out of the blue? Might there be an interest there? Though his wages I presume would be massive and Balague talks ****e most of the time.

    This is the scenario.
Gary Cahill is in the last year of his contract and is a potential senior international. He's the heir apparent to Dopey Rio.
He wants a move, this is obvious. Bolton want money as they don't want him to go to another club on a free. I believe if Liverpool offer them £10 million and keep their £5 million valuation on Ngog, Bolton will take hand and all. It will be too good to refuse. £10 million for a 24 year old centre back. Now in my opinion and I said so on another thread is fantastic business.

    Spot on KPR <applause>

I am almost certain Owen Coyle has made comments and this bid to spark interest in Cahill. His in the last year of his contract and at a good age. A new contract would mean increasing his wages considerably due to him being a full international, but they can't offer him a deal worth less because if he rejects it'll lower his value somewhat. In January they risk letting him sign a pre-contract agreement with another club.

It wasn't out of the blue', it's because people were spreading rumours that we'd bid for him on twitter, citing Spanish reports as their source. People kept asking Balague, so he was clearing the issue up.

I really hope it's accepted, but I'm slightly concerned we'd have no backup striker - is Kenny considering playing Morgan if Ngog goes?

it's because Balague is a blivering idiot. I remember him say8ing about Bale joining Inter and how it was definetley going to happen. Bale is no closer to joining the playing staff at Inter Milan then I am.

£10m + N'gog for Cahill is good and as for striking options we have strikers, we could give El Zhar another shot and we have Amoo & N'Goo which could help if short term injuries were to occur

    1. i agree that despite bolton rolling out players saying they want cahill to stay, they really want him to go for big money.

    2. i think actually bolton are begging sturridge to come back this year again seeing as the boy must realise sometime that he's not getting a sniff at chelsea. n'gog os only a back up.

    3. i'd snap their hands off for 4.5mil for n'gog

N'Gog is a bit of an enigma. Sometimes he can't seem to finish his dinner, loses the ball constantly... But other times he holds up well (I think against Repka in Europa last year), seems to have a decent turn and dribble and can finish well (Arsenal opener last season).

I think we're either due around £4-7M for him - he does have potential OR a loan deal. I think he'd benefit greatly from being in a team where he's one of the better or at least first choice players. If he hit between 10 and 15 goals for Bolton he would come back to Anfield a new man.

Maybe a Barca style £4M with £5M buyout clause after two years (Bojan style) deal?

He seems more ready than N'Gog ever did at PSG.

n'gog is really simple. when you see him playing league 2 opposition in the europa league where there is little or real pressure on him then he looks ok.... put him into the league where you've guys like cahill, jagielka, lescott, terry, vidic et all ahmmering into him with gusto and he looks so poor.

he's got a bit of pace but not blindingly quick.... he's decent i nthe box if a chance comes his way but in genral play he simply gets eaten alive when a cb gets in close and makes it difficult.

let him free and don't mark him and like a 100 others he can do the business....

nathan eccleston is ready to play as he's got the same pace but mroe grit, he's not as good a goal getter so kuyt will be our thrid striekr and we know its not enough but at some point n'gog needs to go to make space for the players coming up.

    I agree.
Eccleston isn't as quick but he's better in and around the penalty area and thats all we need from a 4th choice striker. Let Ngog go and use him in exchange for Gary Cahill, if need be we can sign a striker in January. The owners have said they are far from finished investing.
