He wanted something like a 5 year contract, which is mad for a 29 year old who isn't going to get any better. He wasn't the best of midfielders - waaayyy too slow and really just hung around the goal posts for a bit. He wouldn't have got in our staring XI at any rate, could you see that happening with players like Tiote, Barton, Cabaye all bossing midfield? Wouldn't suit our style of play. And besides, did you not see him play last weekend against Cardiff? Mother of Christ he was terrible. We'll miss his leadership, but everyone else can step up, and his footballing ability can easily be replaced. (And the replacement is a million times better) Good decision
Yeah he missed an absolute sitter I agree though i think it was best for him to move on - like you said a 5 yr contract for someone getting worse by the year is not good business.
