Autism is on the Mental Health spectrum, just depends how far on the scale you are as to how much it effects your mental health. Also as Tobes said they go hand in hand. There is a high chance that Matth has dual issues, that are related to his Autism. You constantly bully the lad. I was just pointing that out. There's a difference between having a laugh with Matth (as I do), and taking it over the line into being a total **** to him (like you are).
It's a developmental problem but it is not a “psychological” problem. Psychological and other approaches can help a person grow and develop, and adjust to their biology, but that does not mean that something psychological caused the autism.
You're talking ****e. 6 years as a mental health worker, working in a residential setting for adults with learning disabilities and/or severe challenging behavior. That's right dickhead. I'm quite familiar this condition. It's a developmental problem which triggers psychological illness. Or is an inability to cope, vulnerability, anger and frustration not psychological issues? Course they ****ing are. They're all symptoms in anxiety which is 100% a mental health issue. Around 40% of people with Autism suffer at least one acute form of anxiety disorder but some form is nearly always noted. Why are people with Autism more likely to suffer with mental health problems such as anxiety? Biological variations in the brain cause social inadequacies such as low self esteem, tenancies to blow out of proportion threatening/abusive situations and lack of flexibility to handle the resulting situation. Add these issues to the already increased chance of depression and it can snowball further to all sorts of other psychological illness, anything from OCD to eating disorders and everything in between. So in short, if he doesn't have any mental illness you're doing your damned hardest to trigger one in him and if he already has one you'll be making it worse. What you're doing is plain ****ing evil. You horrible little man. You deserve to be cuffed and dragged in front of the judge for the horrific bullying you inflict on who is, by the protection of the law, a vulnerable adult.
