Right first things first I have never been the biggest fan of Pulis as everyone knows but what a lot of people are writing on here is an absolute DISGRACE. He has bought in Woodgate and Upson for FREE, they are 2 very good players and I for one never though we would have English internationals at stoke, Yes they havent been of late but they are very good players. Ive also read that Ricardo fuller turned Upson inside out when he scored that amazing goal?, yes he did but one incident in a game doesnt make a bad player. Ive seen Fuller miss absolute sitters does this make him a bad player?. Ive also seen Shawcross and Huth turned inside out many times but would you call these bad players?. Pulis is also trying to sign Crouch and Palacious (spelling) these are very good players and would improve the side dramatically. I think a lot of you need to get your heads out of cuckoo land and back to reality!!!!!!!. We arent Man U we are stoke city!!!!!!!!!!. Pulis has made 2 good signings with another possible 2 to come how on earth anyone can moan about that is beyond me. I never thought id say this but GIVE PULIS A BREAK!.
Ricc - a change of mind methinks, read what I have repeatedly said about Woodgate. Even so, nothings changed with Pulis. For God's sake YOU get a grip, oh and no Ricc, I will NOT give Pulis a break, unless it's his ........... Fill in the blank!! He hasn't got a clue
I think that Tony P is strenghtening for europe but that we need to do something about the midfield because right now they couldn't pass wind! and if we get any more center backs it's going to be like ten pin bowling.
No not a change of mind just being realistic. I will never like Pulis negative way of playing but If shawcross breaks his leg then who do we bring in?. If he didnt buy cover then its Guaranteed that everyone would be saying "why didnt he get cover". We do need cover for wings and a good centre midfielder but we also needed cover in defense (with faye going). If he gets crouch and palacious (which he is trying his bag off to get) will everyone still be singimg the same tune?.......I think not!. These players were both FREE and were a VERY good bit of business of which Pulis deserves credit. If he doesnt get a centre mid and cover for the wings then I can understand where everyone is coming from but we seem to be close to achieving this. Ill just wait see what happens at the end of the transfer window till I have an opinion but there is no doubt in my mind that these 2 FREE transfer players are a geat addition to the squad.
Nicky the only thing im disagreeing with is I think that they are 2 good signings. Im still very worried about this transfer window and really hope he strengthens where it matters e.g wings and centre mid. If he doesnt then I will be the first one letting rip but with the 2 signings he has made I cant complain but thats only if he strengthens where I mentioned above. I feel exactly the same way as you about Pulis big hoof, negative play mate, I havent changed sides ha ha.
We could sign SWP, then instead of the big hoof, he can run really really quickly then kick the ball out!!
Woodgate and Upson were obviously bench warming players and half decent cover for Ryan and Huthy and I suspect will both be used in the Europa League run so I'm not complaining about these buys and it saved us 8 mill and that donkey jerome been thrown in with the deal. Some good midfielders now and a couple of decent strikers and cover for Matty and Pennant and I think we will be ok!
I think you will find that Pulis won't buy any full backs and if so he will start playing Huth etc out of position! I don't think a fit Woodgate and Upson have come here to bench warm, they have come to play! He could sign Messi for all I care, but knowing Pulis he would put him in goal! My point is, they are only good signings if they are utilised correctly, something Pulis struggles with and we all fear that he will not strengthen where needed! As I said on another thread, the end of the transfervwindow will be proof either way and the results from the first 7 prem games will justify his decisions! Don't feed the Pulis lovers and insight a fukin riot!

Ricc, Take it easy, I was only taking the mickey. I know who we are and don't think SWP would suit us. Yes he's scored some goals and assisted in some others but on the whole for me he doesn't do enough over 90 minutes and isn't allways a team player. You may think differently and your welcome to it. As far as your alternatives are concerned, no, no, and yes please.
Ric Fair play to you mate. Your comments are well written and that's fair enough. I agree with the lay off T.P. comments until we are a few games into the season. Like smither's I said. I will give Mr P until the end of the window to find some players. I don't agree that they Woodgate and Upson are here too benchwarm. What puzzles me is this. If Tony is/has brought in those two for the Europa Cup fair enough. They have cost us basically nothing in fees. But, like Waddo say's I think it was Waddo, we do need to rebuild our midfield enbloc. It simply isn't good enough to have FOUR centre halfs with nothing in between. Like you Ric, I would be made up IF we get Crouch and or Palacios until then, I am seriously worried that we are short in numbers for the main event. The Premier League is where we need to improve. Ryan and Huthy are brilliant as a pairing and to play ANY of those four I mentioned other than at Centre half would be madness. That's just my oppinion as we don't seem to be looking at anyone apart from Dann who can play there. I am prepared to wait and see what happens and YES Tony is doing a great job so far. The ONLY complaint I have is like you. He's to negative but we may be in the minority when we say we are not happy with that. I would like us to improve now, not in six months. If that's asking too much then I'm sorry for seeming to be over ambitious.
I`m not criticizingTP for going after Woodgate,Crouch or SWP( if he is!), but I don`t rate Upson.I hope I`m wrong,and now he`s playing for us he will get my full support! It`s now looking doubtful if the double signing of Crouch and Palacios will go through.Personally I`m not worried about Crouch,but I wouldn`t mind it if we gotPalacios,Bendtner and SWP!
Felt he was a poor purchase in the first place and made worse by the fact that he was played over Higgy!
TP always takes half a season to realise Collins can't play full back. Higgy is solid and reliable even if he does hoof it a bit too much. Hope he gets fit soon.
