Correct me if I am wrong but has this Pieters guy actually said he wants to leave PSV and more to the point has a fee been agreed because the way most of the mags are speaking he has already signed on the dotted line and the thousands of loyal mags have not lined the streets outside SJP awaiting him popping his head out of fat mikes window with a toon shirt held high with Pieaters on the back....???? It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Mags don't sign a replacement and Ashley pockets the cash. But then again his name starts with the word Pie so maybe just maybe there is some truth in the rumour!
Got to say, there are some really "out there" comments on this thread. We knew Jose wanted out since January, no surprise there, gutted he has gone but some statements on here are insinuating that it wasn't even expected. Everyone knew this was coming, just as the fabregas saga has dragged out. He wanted out......I'll carry your bags son.!!!! Simple as that. If we sign pieters then I will be happy with that. Dutch full international at 22/23. Yeah, I'll have some of that.
I thought Enrique looked like one of your class players last year but Mag mates told be he seemed to have lost interest well before the end of the season... pointless keeping him if that's the case. Pieters may LB for the Dutch but he seems decidedly 'meh' to me, not bad but not the same class as Enrique... but I guess 'needs must' when the devil vomits in your kettle.
If you have a good look at the thread regarding him on your own board, you will find loads of your supporters seem very surprised by this...
Anyone surprised at this must of been in a coma for the past 6 month. Great player, was room for improvement but he was always leaving as soon as we flogged Carroll. IF we sign pieters, who cares if he is not on enriques level, he is a player who specialises in a position we need to fill and happens to be an international for the 2nd best team in the world right now. Take him over Neil Taylor or Wayne bridge any day of the week.
This transfer was always happening. He wouldn't sign a contract extension and burned his bridges in the press. A good full back who I never really saw get skinned but his concentration wasnt great and sometimes out of position. As for pie eater don't know enough to comment.
It's more of a short-term surprise. We knew he was on his way eventually, but we just didn't know when. With the first match so close, it seemed like he was going to be here at least for that, but suddenly he's off.
I find it hilarious how Pieters, a highly rated player in the current Holland team, a team who finished runners up at the World Cup, is rated as a poor player by some of you, even know I know full well you've never seen him play.
