I'd still really like to go for Rodriguez, I know we have signed Fox and we hoped he would come in a double deal but the Burnley board released a statement after selling Fox today in which they stated - "In the case of Danny Fox, as with other summer departures, the offer the club received was one that the Board could not refuse." Therfore I'm still hoping we can negotiate a good fee for the lad, anyone heard anything more about that or is all Maynard now?
Think Rodriguez did himself a few favours on Tuesday night scoring 4 goals. Price tag may of just gone up & others now sniffing around. Sounds a great prospect. Young & hungry & knows where the goal is. Would be a great signing
Does make you think about comparative finances. If we wanted to keep a player would we consider 1.7/1.8 million a figure we couldn't turn down. We don't even want Puncheon but are playing hardball. Adkins said (sorry guys he's said a lot today) that all our purchases/attempted purchases were going on before Chamberlain was sold and we had the finance anyway.
Exactly, if the Burnley couldn't refuse £1.8M for Fox, if we put a bid of £3-4M for Rodriguez would they feel they couldn't refuse that either? I mean Burnley cant go and sell the entire of their first team, I was looking on the board and the fans don't have a positve outlook on the season at the moment and Rodriguez is the best thing they have left so on the other hand maybe hes just not for sale?
Perhaps they had back up for Fox but a good striker is harder to replace (that's why they command a high price). Perhaps to keep Rod, Howe had to compromise with the sale of Fox.
loads of maynard rumours on twitter, a few journalists and football agent report that he is on the verge of joining saints
Interesting message on the matchball given to Rodriguez after Tuesday's game from the players, he got it as he scored 4 goals: http://twitter.com/#!/naworthy15/sta...500992/photo/1 - See photo here A Clarets fan on Twitter reckons it says "Bye Bye Jay Rod" - what do you think, I'm not certain?
I think the fact that Fox only found out today or yesterday that we were interested in him, and he's already signed, I'm not sure that the Burnley team would have known that he was leaving?
It's difficult to make out a signature at the best of times, but of course that could of been a message from Danny Fox
Could have been a joke because he'd scored 4 goals which was likely to make him even more of a target. Could have been from Fox. Definately putting 2 and 2 together to make 5. If he leaves it might not be to us anyway.
Striker isn't a priority... Thought we didn't want to change the team too much.. A CB was and always should be a priority. Buy one CB and that's 4 signings! That is more than enough I have a massive amount of faith in our current team
Obviously Cortese wants to get promoted this year. If we sign Rodriguez now it not only stops other good teams buying him but it also means we are slowly building a premiership standard side.
All this talk of signing Jay Rodrigues, Nicky Maynard and even Sylvain Ebanks-Blake.. Is taking all Saints fans thought at the moment... I wouldn't at all be surprised if NC and NA Announces on the website that we've just signed a new CB!! They sure love pulling rabbits out of hats!
