    I would say pretty much as solidly as they did against Liverpool. Rather good, IMO. They looked like a couple of good CBs who knew what the other would do. However, I'm biased as I rate Maya much higher than many.

    The game pretty much started as I thought it would, with Sunderland flying, but we were too disciplined and held a good shape.
    I'm glad Sunderland changed to a back four, second half, as it released JWP from trawling the right touch line, where he was quite ineffective. Massive improvement when he went more central.
    I think Claude is one of the most tactically astute managers we have had for a while.
    Some stand out performances from Barry, Oriol and, given our concerns, Stephens against Defoe.
    I kept hearing the commentators talk about Barry's first going in off his arm, but I like to think O'Shea tugging him back by his right arm/shoulder just about turned him into the right position to deflect the ball goalwards. The commentators missed that, potential penalty.

    I've always felt he was an ok deputy, in the past 2 seasons he has matured into a good player. I'd be lying if I said I would have yoshida over fonte but as a long term player yoshida is better for the club.

    Soooo we win away from home, score 4 goals for the first time this season and keep a clean sheet. One of our strikers scores twice and Jack Stephens looks calm and assured next to Maya at the back. We are 2 points from the top ten and 10 points clear of the bottom three...funny what difference 90 minutes make isn't it?

    Edit: Plus we've got Wembley to look forward to!...<badger>
    And I forgot to say that Dusan looked back to his best today.
