When Sunderland started really well, and we ambled around, I actually thought I prefer this to the usual great start/defeat combo we have been mastering!

Great intensity today, Bertrand, Romeu, Davis and JWP all led by example by going full throttle (JWP's improvements this season physically are remarkable). Romeu and Davis pulling the strings works excellently as every player trusts them with the ball without hesitation regardless of if they're pressured which keeps our tempo up as that trust is well founded. I'd be amazed if we played with such an open midfield at Wembley, but if we keep the same mindset and get the right balance of pressing and playing for counter-attacks as we did in the Semi's I'd be happy. Back to 4-2-3-1 after that and I'd be even more happy.

I continue to have great belief in Stephens.

Hopefully this also puts an end to anyone thinking that, when playing a back four, Bertrand could be shifted across to play CB. Why would anyone want to lose him bombing forward down the left flank?

 

I find I get a much better service if I look at the stream calendar and choose the last stream listed. So today it was TSN3. I suspect that that way you have fewer people on the bandwidth.

It meant I saw all four marvellous goals in glorious unblockovision.

I was more impressed by today's performance. Liecester were poor, but Sunderland didn't really know what they are supposed to do with that round object, or even what it is.
