So how does that differ from his chest or his nose? If someone blasts the ball at you from half a yard, you have the same status as the referee, a post, a corner flag, or a dog. Nowt you can do about it. No itent.
Technically it wasnt. Hand ball is a shortening of hand to ball. a movement of the hand to the ball. The hand never moved
I don't think it was a deliberate hand ball. It happened at such speed it just richocetted up and hit him. Whether that constitutes hand ball and the goal should be disallowed depends on whether it happens to or for your team.
this is where the details of the law are too arbitrary - i had no problem with a Pen being given if the ref thought the arm was directly blocking its path to goal (id always take the keeper out the equation on that) - but what there movement TOWARDS the ball ? no in fact he was moving thesidways and away from the ball , his arm didnt move until contact was made (i asume an instinctive flinch) - for that id not class it as deliberate nor a foul . Sanchez i have the same opinion on that , however as the effect was "to score" i'd call that no goal and no card to the player - for me they were both exactly the same event. Sanchez no goal , no foul no intent Clucas Penalty , no foul , no intent
How very dare you. I had the best ERCFA training at YPI on George St Hull !!! No worries..only jesting....footballs all about opinions.....hence over 1 million posts on these boards. And it keeps the old pro's in work who are too scared to take up management!!!
Erm... because it's his hand. If you get an advantage from a handball, deliberate or not, it should be a free-kick. It's a far fairer rule than the current one. And far easier for the refs to implement. IMO
The camera angle from behind the goal showed that you couldn't see his arm when the ball was struck but it moved out. Not as apparent from the normal camera position. No problems with that decision.
He quite clearly moved his arm to block the ball going in, it was a red all day long, I can't believe it's even being discussed.
The ball wasn't going in until Alexis handled it. The telling part for me was Alexis knew he had done wrong as he was walking back he was looking at the ref consulting the linesman like a naughty kid. As for the Gibbs decision - That's a shocking decision and one of the clearest decisions missed by a referee, how that isn't a red card I'll never know. Clattenburg based on that performance needs a break from high profile matches. Terrible.
It richocetted and hit his hand as he came in. If it had happened to Niasse you wouldn't have even mentioned it. The Gibbs decision was indeed diabolical. He also booked Sanchez for diving though a replay showed there was contact.
TBH gave it up a few years ago, not sure if it is the cheap washing powder nowadays, but the refs outfit seemed to keep shrinking, until it was a real squeeze to get into it. Bloody cheap foreign fabric too probably.
His hand wasn't in a natural position. The referee has even confirmed he got it wrong. Therefore, the 'goal' should not have stood.
