Chippy I'm taking one Allopurinol 300 mg a day and that is keeping it away apart from odd twinges.If it returns I take one Naproxen 250 mg three times a day which soon shifts it. I hope you soon get rid of it as it is very painful.

Is it only Naproxen you've been taking? Bit strange for gout - Naproxen is like prescription-strength Ibuprofen. Basically just an anti-inflammatory, which in effect makes it a pain killer as it reduces the inflammation. You really need something like the Allopurinol to melt the crystals. Bit like putting a bandage on a cut that needs 60 stitches.

 

Lest we forget it was your somewhat rapid, slightly feisty and factually incorrect response to my reply to Mighty that got you in this pickle in the first place
