annoyed this has took till 2 days before the season kicks off to come to a head.if we have a replacement in today i'll be a little happier but the club should have done something earlier for his replacement,it's been the worst kept secret in football that he wants out but week after week we've had pardew saying "i hope he stays/he could stay or whatever".
As soon as the window opened we should have got a replacement in (so he could have got used to his team mates and how they play etc. now he's got to hit the ground running or take 4 or 5 games to settle in ..not good enough)whether he stayed or went as we need cover in that area anyway.****ing shambles as usual.

Surely he wouldn't be sold without a replacement being available.........well this is Newcastle I suppose - I think we gave hime away too cheaply!

I prefer the term outgrown us in that his career progression and needs have outgrown a club who is at best progressing at a slow rate due to financial constraints. Good move for him and will benefit his career both at club level and internationally. Cracking player and cracking servant, just sorry we're not in a position to compete at the level he needs to because he is a fantastic left back

Considering we are not in debt anymore, we have to spend a whoooole lot more to catch up with United's debt ridden books. <ok>

I don't see how Liverpool is the answer to him getting into the Spain squad. They are in exactly the same competitions as us next season.Time will tell though. Money is the motivator in this one IMO.

    This

I bet we haven't even put a bid in for that Pieters bloke yet, well not until the 11th hour and it will get rejected with Pardew saying 'we did all we can to get Jose's replacement in but it just didn't happen for one reason or another'

And our defence will be ****ed until Jan! then the cycle will repeat again...

Aye but its all about ambition, thats all he wanted, Liverpool have spent over 100 million on players in recent times and have a very strong squad, they will be pushing for top 4 this season and will most likely at least be in the europa league next season, its a no brainer really, we have shown none to little ambition this season and we are now paying the price, I dont blame him for wanting to go somewhere that he might win something, after all this contract will see him through to the prime of his career.

I wish him all the best, even though I cant stand Liverpool.

Money has absolute jack **** to do with this move. It's about career progression and ambition. He'll be well paid as he was here, but he should because he's top class. When you're as good as him you're going to earn good money regardless. To be honest its ludicrous to even suggest it has anything to do with money
