How do you work that out? We've just lost 6 from 7 & none of those future fixtures are winnable IMO not on our current PL form. And Spurs next after those!

Oh please lets not fall into the trap of "Remember where we were in 2008/09". We're all aware we were in a far worse predicament then but that was nearly a decade ago. What matters now is the present and 6 defeats in 7 league games, with a serious centre back shortage is concerning. Especially with the bottom clubs showing some fight.

Completely unrelated, but I read somewhere that if Bayern Munich used a broomstick as their goal keeper for the last three months of last season they still would've won the league, meaning if they conceded from every shot on target against them. Maybe we could try that? At least the broomstick would have a sporting chance. It feel like every shot against us is flying in at the minute, Obiang's goal was just horrible to watch as it seemed to move in slow motion! I'm not sure what kind of a view Fraser had of it, the third goal was unlucky too.

Given we have lost 6 of our last 7 games and we are rubbish on the road - am I really struggling to find any logic in what you have written. To help me with this - which two games do you think we are very possibly going to win?

I said after the Swansea game that with the players currently available we would be better playing a 4-2-3-1 system.
The defence needs more protection so I would put Romeu and Clasie as the 2 holding midfielders. Boufal looked like the number 10 we've been crying out for in the second half at Swansea, and then Puel goes and puts him out wide against West Ham, where he is not in the game enough for me, and clearly he gets frustrated.
Again personally I don't think you can play Davis and JWP in the same team together.
I'm still confident that we will not get dragged into the relegation battle, but the form really needs to pick up, and next week would be the perfect time.

As a rather rude West Ham fan said to me yesterday on the way back from the ground "your club ain't got no ambition mate" when I told him they were lucky to have Fonte.

My calm reflection match day +1

    1. I was there so respectfully ask those that weren't and who are in complete melt down remember that.

    2. Yes not managing to get a QUALITY Centreback in was a mistake and is a problem

    3. Something not right with Forster (injury?) but his mistakes are starting to cost us

    4. Really thought Jrod had turned the corner but he was really poor

    5. Really fed up with our fans leaving before the game (winning, losing or drawing!)

    6. Fed up with nonsense written about Redmond - what are people's expectations- Messi? Redmond makes things happen - I like him. When he came on we were instantly better down the left.

    7. Please cut with rubbish about negative football - we had 21 shots yesterday and yes sometimes you need to keep possession and yes you even need to pass backwards and sideways sometimes.

Ok, negatives out of the way.

    1. Gabbiardini - looks excellent. Dream start. Intelligent runs. Probably should have scored at least one more but hey first game! Looked to interact really well with Shane Long. Clearly our black box/scouting machine is live and kicking

    2. Boufal is absolute quality but just needs to be played in correct position and used in the right way.

    3. We played some of the best attacking football I've seen for a while. This rut WILL end

    4. We are well run and our set up is the envy of much of the footballing world.

    5. Our bad luck WILL end - injuries, ref decisions, worldie / deflected strikes.

    6. Our youngsters are still coming through our superb academy. We have a manager reknowned for bringing them through

    7. We are finally about to enter a section of the season with 1 game a week (or less)

    8. WE ARE IN A PROPER CUP FINAL

I hope Claude sets up a stable team now and it is only from now we should judge him on this - totally agree that the defence is going to need more protection - Clasie and Romeu for me. My first choice, consistent team looks like this:

    Forster (if fit)
    Bertrand Yoshida Stephens Cedric
    Romeu Clasie
Davis Boufal Redmond (or Long or Sims)
    Gabbiadini

    Subs

    Mouez
    Gardos
    Tadic
    McQueen
    Ward-Prowse or Holjberg
    Long/Sims/Redmond dependent on first 11
    Long/Sims/Redmond dependent on first 11

Jrod to try to force his way to get back in to contention. Hesketh to force his way back to get another chance.

Reasonable post IMO,except these two,we do not attack as a team clear as day and to go backwards from a dangerous free kick when two down only to lose the ball is f******** negative.

Secondly down to luck,do me a favour.

Yep. You are right - there are some occasions when we make a strange attacking play decision but it's not because of some ethos or because Puel is telling them to do this.

When you are at the top you seem to get the luck, check the third Chelsea goal out if you want the proof.

I hope you told him that his club was run by spivs and pornographers, and that the ambition of crooks inevitably leads to their own downfall.

I keep thinking it would have been a different game had Gabbiadini's 50/50 offside not have been called.

Very close to the XI I want to see. But in games we want to win, I think we need to be more attacking than that: Tadic for Davis. Four proper attacking options on the pitch.

For me, Davis belongs in games where we want to put up a battle and try and stop the opposition. Otherwise, the bench. Three times he pulled the trigger yesterday. Did anyone expect him to score a single one of them?

Very easy to fall into the trap of if X had happened etc.

Also linesman got both decisions right from the angles I saw

So what do you suggest we do about it, Tom?...gather together and march down to SMS and put Ralph, Les and Gareth's heads on poles?

Don't you not understand a thing about football?

Just because you are on bad form and not winning often, it doesn't mean you will go on to lose every game for the rest of the season.

You mention our poor form over 7 games, well look at Watford. They went 7 pl games without a win. Does that mean they carried on that form for the entire season and went down? Nope. They recorded back to back wins against Arsenal and Burnley. Two games which you clearly think would be impossible for them to win but they did.

Liverpool are also on poor form. Does that mean they will keep losing for the rest of the season and get dragged into a relegation battle? No, because they will turn it around eventually.

Our next three league games are Sunderland, Watford and United. We could win any of those games. Yes Sunderland just had a great result against Palace but that doesn't mean to say they are no an amazing team that will keep winning etc etc.

So many football fans, you being a prime example, only think in the short term. A couple of losses and everything turns to cr*p. A few mistakes from one player an he is useless etc. Whereas in actual fact a season is played over 38 games. Sometimes you hit great form, but it won't last the entire season. Sometimes we will be on terrible form (such as now) but it won't last all season.

Let's just see how it pans out shall we.

I predict 4 points from our next 3.

And it has happened in each of our last four seasons.
