The team will be buzzing tonight. They must carry that over next week. Next week's going to be a toughie.
Took them apart today. As a team we seemed so solid. Even four up I was waiting for an England cricket team performance. You know one goes in and then next minute we are 4 - 4 but thankfull it never happened. I have been a huge critic of Rodwell so I will eat my humle pie and thought he was brilliant today. The same with Adnan....doubted he had the balls but today he showed me if he applies himself with his undoubted ability there is a hell of player inside him. I noticed also when we scored he lads on the bench were on the touchline celebrating. Maybe the 'Everton' team affect is starting to take hold. Both Lescott and Gibson looked solid and just played it simple. I liked very much how we kept the ball a lot better when ahead....this has always been a huge issue for us. Oviedo for PVA....daylight robbery. This lad is going to be a great player for us. Kone seems at last to be getting back to where we need him. Don't care about other teams winning. We look after ourselves and we will be fine. Loved Big Sam at Sunderland......but couldn't stop laughing at his face when the fourth one went in....f*cking priceless.....lol. Let's move on Southampton.....ha way the lads!!!
Over the moon with today and can't wit for match of the day. Great that Rodwell is off and running with his first win (or limping a bit!) Hopefully back soon and onwards and upwards. Long way to go and Hull have suddenly sprung into life too but a win today is a massive step. Bring on Southampton haha!
Never understand the Shearer bashing for his MOTD/punditry, always comes across balanced and fair with us, just as he should.
Think everyone is a bit sheepish as the teams in 3-6th place are all in blistering form - Reading and Leeds both won a handful of games on the spin - and we didn't strengthen at all in January despite a few injuries and plenty of evidence our back-up players aren't good enough. As for betting on Sunderland there's a real split in Newcastle fans (the ones I know anyway, can't speak for all) between the ones who would love to see Sunderland relegated and the ones who just want the North-East to have a few teams in the top flight and some derbies to look forward to. Also the odds being quoted were silly, I never bet on anything but had you lost today I would have been tempted to put money on you to stay up as they would have surely drifted out to 10-1 against or the like (given that they were apparently 7-1 against?). You may be bottom but you're one win behind 15th, going to be very tight this season...
I agree, when he started I actually just thought he was a touch dull but he's grown into it. The only team I've ever noticed him consistently criticize is Newcastle and that's just because a) like any fan you're overly critical of your own team and b) we are genuinely ****e.
I think Chelsea v Arsenal shoudl have been 3rd or 4th. I don't think it's fair when they've already been on the TV today and then go on first.
For such a small guy he's so strong, just brushed Cocquelan off the ball like he wasn't there. Game, set and match for the title now.
