I didn't say it was a Mickey Mouse cup, just that it's not a major trophy. The major trophies are the champions league, Premier league and FA cup. The second tier of trophies are the league cup and europa league.
To be honest, they had to give the league cup some meaning, so it's probably a good thing that it qualifies you for Europe. Even if it is the Europa league
The FA cup has far more prestige though. It's one of the oldest competitions in the world and it's up there with the Wimbledon final, Grand national etc as a sporting spectacle. I know it's lost some of it's shine more recently, but for me (and for most older football fans) it still has that magic. I remember as a kid getting up early to watch Grandstand or World of Sport (it was on BBC and ITV in those days) to follow the teams as they left their training grounds and got on the coach to Wembley. It was a massive event and one which the whole family would sit round and watch.
They were devised so not real fans can look back at the handful of games they went to. Not a prick more of a souvenir hunter.
Baring you think everybody's a prick who doesn't have a slopey forehead and blood dragged knuckles it's hardly a surprising comment.
Thanks for proof-reading my posts, Pixie. Now, make yourself useful and make me a cup of tea. Cheers, luv.
