Just saw that as well..... You would of thought they would of announced all posponements at the same time...
If any were to be called off i suppose this one would have been the first casualty. I'm not sure they will call off all london fixtures , especially as its calmed down .
I assume this match has been postponed due to the damage in Tottenham and the surrounding areas rather than lack of police resources. I understand the PL will be meeting to discuss the other matches at 4pm today.
'Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said he was "positive" the other nine games in the opening round of top-flight fixtures would go ahead.'
I doubt any of the other games will be called off. Saturday, 13 August 2011 Blackburn v Wolverhampton, 15:00 - No reports of trouble in Blackburn or Lancashire area Fulham v Aston Villa, 15:00 - No major trouble in Fulham or Putney Liverpool v Sunderland, 15:00 - At risk but unlikely to be called off QPR v Bolton, 15:00 - No major incidents in White City or Shepards Bush Wigan v Norwich, 15:00 - No reports of trouble in Wigan Newcastle v Arsenal, 17:30 - No reports of trouble in Newcastle Sunday, 14 August 2011 Stoke v Chelsea, 13:30 - No reports of trouble in Stoke West Brom v Man Utd, 16:00 - No reports of trouble in Sandwell Monday 15 August 2011 Manchester City v Swansea, 20:00 - Nowhere near City centre ================================================================ It has big implications for QPR even moreso if there game is called off because as far as Everton are concerned QPR is their first game and they will be fresh and ready to play. Would leave QPR having to play 2 away games in a row like Blackpool had to last year which is never nice for a newly promoted club. Fingers crossed it goes ahead.
It'd be quite nice to get three points on the board and take them to an Everton side yet to play their first game.
Toitingham's match is only cancelled because it's surrounding area is still considered a crime scene (it's where that lad got shot, which was the initial catalyst to the Tottenham riots.
Can't remember who it was but some prick on Talksport reckoned Everton would be delighted as their first match would now be an easy home game against QPR rather than a tough away match at Spurs...
Lets hope the Everton players think like that too. I like hearing people writing us off as it takes the pressure off the boys and gets them up for providing a shock.
