Is anybody able to explain to me how the qualification for the 2017/18 European club competitions will work? If we lose the EFL cup final and Man United finish in the top six do we get their Europa League place? The permutations always seem to change.
My understanding is simple for the EFL Cup. If we win we qualify. If we lose we don't, regardless of what else happens in the league placing. for the winners. Runners up of this tournament are not involved in Europe.
That would depend on FA Cup and Champions League winners... not sure how that all runs out though. My guess is this: 1st to 4th = Champions League qualification 5th = Europa League qualification Then you have if someone from above wins FA Cup or League Cup then that Europa League spot goes to 6th and the 7th. There is an added question on what happens if one of those wins the Champions League or the Europa League - I really have no idea then.
Casting my mind back...didn't we need Liverpool to lose the Europa Cup in order for 6th to qualify. May be untrue....perhaps we didn't need Liverpool to lose for any other reason than that they are Liverpool.
We don't need to worry about finishing 6th and the permutations that go with that... Do we not get back into the JPT for finishing 14th
