Can't believe that there are people who actually believe that Aliens was better than Alien (which is one of the greatest sci-fi horror movies of all time) and that Predators was better than Predator!
Predators I will give you but plenty of arguments for Aliens being the strongest of the Alien series. I think they are both excellent and tough to separate.
Typically a sequel is part 2, it continues the story from the first film. Some like Rocky keep going, so Rocky IV is a sequel. But .... you could hardly call the James Bond films sequels or the Eastwood spaghetti westerns sequels and in reality The Good, Bad and Ugly is technically a prequel.
You and HIAG are both nuts. Alien is an excellent film. While I personally think Aliens is the better movie, I can certainly see why some people would prefer the first one. They are very different movies. Alien is a slow burning sci-fi horror, filled with tension and suspense. Aliens is a balls to the wall action movie. Both are excellent in their own right.
