Visually very impressive Melon. Might not have beaten much but it looked an honest pace and he hurdled slickly considering it was his first run over hurdles. Be interesting to see the time.

Melon 4/1 in places for the Supreme, pushing Moon Racer for favouritism

He actually looked good to my eye but I still think it is a gross overreaction from the bookmakers for the umpteenth time this season.

Tracked the pace really well, got home really well. Certainly can see Ruby sitting prominently in the Supreme as per his most recent rides on Champagne Fever, Vautour, Douvan and Min.

Melon 2.7 seconds above standard in a hack canter with Ruby motionless (going officially good). I thought it looked a genuine pace and that bears in out. Very smart performance for a novice on debut, I bet the Irish Champion Hurdle winner won't be much quicker than that. 5/1 freely available for the Supreme with bits of 11/2, many firms have him 4/1 fav. I might grab a slice of 5s if I make a few quid today.

    Easy-peasy Let's Dance.

Anyone know why some of the Irish jockeys are wearing black armbands?

I love how 90% of TV racing experts go through all the horses and give an outsider not much mention and then the second money comes in they are all "yeah, I can see why the money has come, he's this and he's that and blah blah and he would be my selection in here" and the horse subsequently runs a shocker and they try back track <laugh> Kevin Blake the latest to get sucked in by Peace News moving in a bit but happens to them all, everyday.

Apparently on RTE that race and the Mares Hurdle were mentioned by Mullins post race.
