Didn't his loan deal run out before the play-offs? I've a vague idea it did. We are in desperate need of some quality in attack, so he could be a good signing for next season if not immediately, he's probably not match fit now. He is older now and hopefully a bit more controlled.
OK. I remember he stopped scoring and playing as well late on. Maybe I'm mixing him up with someone else about his deal ending before the play offs. Edit. I must have mixed him up, BBC have him on the Bench in the final.
I don't think players of his attitude will ever 'turn it around' if you've had a lifetime behaving and thinking a certain way why would some manager be able to change you in six months? Having said that, as long as he didn't ruin the team spirit we seem to have at the moment I'd have him on loan till the season's end. Just to see a bit of flair, you know?
Risky one for me....I would take him on a match-fee only contract, to see how hungry he really is to get his **** together. Questions have to be asked why Wigan wouldn't take him on - was he not fit enough? Bad attitude? You would imagine his match fitness would be well off after only 11 games in 3 years. He's also prone to injury, so risky on that front too. Could be a good addition to the squad if his attitude and team ethic has matured, and we do need a bit of flair.
Absolutely bucket loads of potential, Rio said in an interview that the likes of Pogba and Lingard used to idolise him in the youth team, with the right attitude he'd probably be playing for Barcelona by now, if we can get 50% of his potential out then he's worth a punt!
Lots of ifs and buts, but (see there's another) if Olly thinks he has the desire I feel that he would be able to handle him. The cards would be on the table, which would be printed in the contract - behave and play; misbehave and have your contract nulified. If Ollie says yes, so do I!
He's played 11 times in 3 years!!! doesn't fill me with confidence that his attitude has changed much.
