Is that Rafa getting more praise than he is deserving already, mate? Mike Ashley spent 80 million pound, last season, and that was before Rafa come to the club. Short has just thrown in the towel. Yeah, it totally weakens us. We have just sold our only left back at the club. First team regular and consistently one of the top scoring defenders, in England. If not the top goalscoring defender. I think when you come up, Ashley will spend big again and you'll probably consolidate yourselves as a mid table club. Just guess work as anything can happen with these clubs, but that's how I see you going over the next few seasons.
Hopefully we can get a similar fee for Kone now and that will leave us with nearly 30m to get a few players in that actually want to play for the club.
If we reinvest the money well then ok fine I've always liked PVA but it's a big profit and the kind of thing we need to be doing, if we never see penny one of it then I'll be gutted. We'll have to wait and see.
Quite possibly mate. We've just sold a Ford Focus. We might get lucky & bring in an Austin Allegro from the scrapyard.
We could write that every single post, to be fair. Nobody knows anything that goes on at the club and all we do is speculate.
We have far too many players. Good that were thinning the squad down a bit. We need to sell Kone, Defoe, Borini, Pickford and anyone else who is half decent because we have loads of players available. Make sure nothing coming in is spent on replacement players though, we need to get that debt down and the 8% interest we pay Short is crippling us. I get 0.01% interest from my Nat West account so Short must have a canny financial advisor. This is all irony by the way. Sam got PVA playing well and if he uses him as a left attacking midfielder he will have a good player there. I just hope we don't sign the Swansea third choice left back that everyone at Swansea hates and they think he is dreadful.
I fully understand how you feel but it comes down to the following questions after the same: 1) Will Moyes get the full money to spend? 2) Can he get better quality player/players in for that value? If the answers are yes to both then its a good sale, if its no then its another nail in the coffin.
14-15m is a great deal for us PVA is a great at attacking but a terrible defender. I just hope ES lets Moyes use the money and Moyes has a replacement lined up and i hope to god that PVA's replacement not Lescott
According to the reports ivevread its 12m up front fee. Which is what id a y hes worth going forward. Defensively he's worth half that at most
PVA, put in a Transfer Request so he didn't want to stay, were getting a good deal as his defending is awful, he gives more goals away than he scores, we must have a good Left back in the under 23's who can come in and then we can spend the money on creative Midfielder and another Striker,
I think heir to the throne is, young Robson. He looks a million miles away at the moment and would struggle with any higher than league 2.
