I dont envy that. Two chihuahuas make an unbelievable and inversely proportionate amount of waste on their walks...

I used to have a couple of great dane/rottweiler crosses - that was a 2 man lift when they took a dump

Nice discussion about the varying amounts of dog poo going on. :D

How is it no matter how far you walk them they always manage to find some more? We go on walking holidays and even after 8 or 9 miles miles he just has to have one more. Luckily stick and flick is usually acceptable or we would need an additional rucksack which the dog would need to carry.

Yep same with mine. Tiny gorgeous little things - we walk them 3 miles a day. They come home, drink water then straight to the back door to be let out to wee/poo again!

So today was the day the girl I mentioned before came over to mine. I won't give the details, but as fatletiss just wanted me to say going well rather than give the progress. I'll just say that. Going well.

Good. BTW, never be tempted to tell the girl you're keeping us informed. She'll think she's part of an experiment.

...........Here is another true story.....but before I relay it, it is about a couple of school Children who is roughly the same age as my granddaughter, although the girl is a year younger and I gather both go to my granddaughters school. I am going to change their names.
I thought the whole overheard conversation rather strange but at the time was so surprised and didn't quite know if I should say anything or not.
I decided it wasn't my place so didn't say anything.
For those that know me personally, do not ask me to tell you whose children, because no I won't be telling you.

The other day I picked my 6 year Granddaughter up from school. Although it was freezing bloody cold and as she was coming back to granddads for the evening, she decided she wanted a walk in the local park to see the geese , she had been told was there, before it got dark.
As granddads do I agreed and off we eventually went. When we got there as you can imagine there was hardly anyone there and was starting to get a bit misty and freezing cold....except over the far side a lady and a man sat on a bench talking and 2 children, a boy and a girl were playing with a kite about 200 yards from them, towards us.
Where the children were playing was the direction my Granddaughter wanted to go and said hello as she past. Eventually the children's kite came down near me and the boy started to reel it in walking towards me with the little girl in tow. This is how the conversation went that I overheard.
"Mark I"m cold I want to go home"...... "Cant they're still talking"..... "oh come on its getting dark anyway"...... "What are we going to do at home Lisa, Mums got to go to work tonight"........ "I know, we can play blind mans buff, nanny won't mind" ........"What's blind mans buff?"...."Its a game"........." Who wants to play a game about a silly old blind man".......... "He's not silly and you're not supposed to say that ".........."Say what?"......." You know, silly old blind man"......" I don't want to play a silly game about a stupid ****ing blind man."......" He's not stupid "........." I don't ****ing care "......"Its just a game we played in school ".........." Lisa you don't get it do you, I don't want to play a ****ing game about a ****ing blind man"......."You shouldn't say that, that man can hear you" (meaning me). "I don't give a **** come on, looks like they're going"......" Oh please lets play Blind mans bluff when we get home, err.......what does **** mean?"
Then they were out of ear shot.
So is this how children develop language skills?? Would you have said anything? Must admit it was tempting..............

It is a difficult one Beddy, especially if you confront as their little precious would never have said that! We were walking along Stokes bay seafront not so long ago and these two 12ish year olds were coming in opposite direction and every other word was f this f that etc.Had I been on my own I would probably just walked on but was with my wife and took exception ( old fashioned ) to start with I was fair game to them, but after a while they seemed to understand that it's not so clever.Probably wishful thinking on my part.

Well, I just wish everyone would swear all the time. If the BBC started a few news broadcasts with something like "DonaldTrump has been elected in a f***ing surprise result", swearing would lose all its potency and kids would stop doing something no-one cared about. They would just become adjectives, nouns, adverbs and verbs (which is all they are - they are just words) with no magic associated. Who would still bother to swear?

Also, most swearing is only judged to be offensive on the basis of anachronistic religious reasons, hardly the most rational of positions.

You have a good point there. To me it is more offensive the intent of a conversation rather than the words used.

"You are ****ing marvellous" could mean I am amazing or could be a sarcastic I am awful. Intent not the language.

I'm on the no swearing side...except in extreme circumstances...there are plenty of other words to use. No need for it usually and I hate hearing adults swear in front of their kids. Some people don't seem to be able to string a sentence together unless it includes swear words. I wouldn't be brave enough to say anything to a stranger though.
