Just back from the game (My first home game for 18 months because of a self imposed home game boycott, league cup semi final was too much of a big game to miss!) Wow!! What a performance. Like everyone else I thought the white flag had been waved before the game but that was an absolute joy to watch! Huddlestone looks a different player. The whole team performance was incredible, the work rate the team put in was awesome! I've come away from that game thinking you can sell who you want, so long as Marco can get his replacements I don't care. The team spirit is most certainly there. I thought Niasse had a great game.Tired towards the end but his general play was good. I'm willing to put my Allamout hat aside for 6 months and support the team, they deserve it. The team are battling like mad, the least I can do i support them and hope that staying in the prem brings new owners. I know its hard but anyone who is also boycotting, I urge you to attend at least one game and see the effort that is going in.
Since Silva arrived Huddlestone looks like a completely different player he is running the midfield and his passing is a a lot more penetrating, instead of the square and backward passing we saw with the two previous managers. Tonight and against Chelsea he looked better than some very big name players.
I think Waggy's last goal was against Oxford away the season after. The week before he scored his last home goal. I remember being stood in North Stand and an older Bolton fan said to his mate that Wagstaff had been a great player but sad to say he was past it. At almost that exact moment Waggy scored. He was almost happy to be wrong. Seen madder days than that one. Depends on your age as how you viewed these things I suppose.
Downs would have been having a ducko had he been match commander back then - town centre and Anlaby Road awash with pissed up Manc scallies, flare ups all over the place, he'd have been closing pubs and setting up exclusion zones like a man possessed.
Markovic looked better as the game went on. Looked a little off the pace when he first came on but ended up playing two defence splitting balls. Niasse looks direct and aggressive but a little rusty, a few games and he'll be up to speed. Evandro is calmness personified! On top of that, he has the original players looking like Premier League players. I'm going to enjoy the next few months no matter what happens, I think we're lucky to have this manager and group of players.
Mourinho: On Marco Silva...he has a hard job but is a special boy. Players going in and out he has a very tough challenge Mourinho: We didn't lose it was one one. I only saw one goal. OSC @ the press conference
I thoroughly enjoyed the game, players were superb, really promising, but as you say the atmosphere was **** Maybe it was because I'd been evicted (again) and some ****ing manc ****er was in my seat, but **** me...how the **** does anyone watch football sat down?! I genuinely can't understand it. Loath them or despise them you can't help but admire a full away crowd with no one sat down Anyway We have a very good manager IMHO We played extremely well We've got some very good players Silva appears to be getting the best out of players by, I assume, giving them very clear instructions Rest of the season will be...interesting
