Out of interest, who was the most expensive player we've ever sold (i.e. who did we get the most for)? Long?
Alright I said John Welsh....but....people are seriously saying Snodgrass as they're best player we've ever sold! Jeezus - Snodgrass based on what?
We haven't produced any players that have gone on to play for top four teams, granted. Watch us lose Tymon to someone like Arsenal or Spurs and ask this same question in five years. For all we know he could be England's starting left-back by then.
How many people on this thread are saying it's Snodgrass? I'll give you a clue ........ it's less than two.
Stuart Pearson went on to play for Man U, 3 seasons in first division I think. Also played for England.
I was thinking Chris Chilton. Great centre forward, couldn't believe we sold our best striker to Coventry but he didn't last long due to injury. Probably sold him at the right time, bit like some of our current squad?
How many persons does it take to bear reference to people....I'll give you a clue soft lad....more than 1 and as it stands more than 1 have referred to Snodgrass. Feel free to get back in your box and close the lid behind you.
I seem to remember Chillo getting crocked by Roy Ellam at fer ark in a Christmas-ish game against Udders. City sold him shortly afterwards to Coventry, after his salmon-like leaping ability had gone. Should have played for (proper) England, as should Waggy, but neither did.
This thread, the thread you're posting on, has ONE person stating that Snodgrass MIGHT be our best player .... get counting ...... ''soft lad''.
Don't forget Patty voted Snodgrass, on the grounds that he'd been a world cup winner. Errm, on second thoughts scratch Patty's vote.
In terms of 'normal' inflation I'd say it would be about £1m. However football inflation is something different altogether so I've no idea!
Christ normal inflation is a worry considering it was about 50p to get in Boothferry Park at the time.....
He played for United for 5 seasons scoring 55 goals, then went to West Ham. Played for England 15 times scoring 5 times.
Ah, Don Revie. I watched Damned United just last night. Having only been a fan since 2009, I would have to agree with the Shane Long voters, though my personal favorite is Robbie Brady.
