I'm on a business trip with a Scouser from work. He really rates the kid, said he was looking great until he got a red card early on in a Champions League game then never really performed as well again.
Given that Liverpool are top 3 and we're bottom 3 he might be good enough for us even though Liverpool think he's not good enough for them.
There is a player in there. Whether it'll come out again we'll find out We need some pace and quality on the wing, and don't have the luxury of bringing in £20m players who are proven as consistent (either we can't afford them or they wouldn't come anyway or both) Gamble worth taking for me Get behind him...and even if he doesn't cut it there's no need to get on his back either He'll score the winner against Man U tomorrow and be feted when he returns to Scouseland
Let's give the lad a chance. I wouldn't trust the supporter of a big team, if they don't score or assist 20 a season they suddenly think there **** and should be playing in League Two. Sometimes players don't work at big clubs doesn't mean he is ****. Sigurdsson is a quality player who didn't make it at Spurs, there are so many examples of similar players dropping down to a smaller team and succeeding. Let's hope this is another one.
I think the worry isn't so much his failure at Liverpool which everyone is fixating on, but rather his subsequent failures in Turkey and Portugal - the league he was apparently so good in before.
He was ace at benfica, and while he may not be quite good enough for a team aiming for top 3 all we need is a player good enough to play for a team aiming for 17th, big difference.
Looks technically good and a calm finisher - admittedly against some dog-**** defending. Hopefully link up with Abel/Niasse to provide us with the pace up front we've been missing for so long.
From what I've seen of MS so far he does seem to have lifted the performance level of a number of players .. I'm really hoping that his style encourages the best out of this lad and Niasse.. TWT no doubt but here's hoping
His career has gone downhill since joining Liverpool. I don't have owt against him but he was shipped out to Sporting because the Portuguese League was where he made a name for himself in the first place, and he was even **** there. To put it into perspective, he played well for Benfica between 2013-14 - they won the league. They've kept the title over the past three years and are 1st now. Sporting are 4th and before he was recalled he couldn't make the team because he was so piss-poor when he played. He can't cut it for Liverpool, he can't cut it in Portugal for a team worse than the one he originally played for. I just wonder why anyone would think he could cut it for us, even though we're second from bottom. He'll still be up against Premier League defences, which are a lot better and more physical than Portuguese ones, regardless of which PL club he plays for.
I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, I don't think MS would take him if he didn't feel he can get the best out of him. I am not sure where he as playing in Portugal, but Liverpool didn't play with out and out wingers, and that is why Jordan Ibe left, so if he is played in his preferred position then you might see a different player. TWT as our departed friend would say.
I've just caught up with a Scouse mate. His view is as follows - "He's actually quite good when he gets a run of games and will bring something to the party for you"
