I don't know why some people on here get hot and bothered by low opening offers for our players. Do they start at £200 when bidding on ebay? Well maybe that is what Carmine did.
Time to get hot and bothered... John Percy @JPercyTelegraph West Brom have agreed a deal with Hull for Jake Livermore, who will have a medical later today. Fee is around £10m #wba #hcafc
I thought the last thing we wanted to do when the squad was this small was lose players according to MS?
10m......**** me, it's not a small amount, but for the Jan transfer window and for one of our better performing players in a small squad.......its an interesting one for sure, that entire amount has to be reinvested or we're ****ed
Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Jake Livermore on his way to West Brom for a medical this morning after #hcafc accepted an offer in the region of £10m.
Believe Jake's been sacar Believe a couple of MS targets that he wanted on loans, are not available except on permanents transfers. that's all I can think of why this is going through
Jake has been one of our most reliable and versatile players this season. Doesn't make sense to sell him as unless we replace with quality we are an injury or two away from a decimated midfield.
The fee seems too small in relation to the market we're in (Hendrick costing 13) and the fact it's January. It just doesn't feel right. The midfield looks pretty lightweight now, other than Meyler we have no one with bite and Meyler may be able to nick it off someone, but can he consistently then keep possession? Probably not. Obviously we don't know whether the money will be reinvested or not at this stage, but we need a defensive mid who can then retain possession. But presumably that player will be unused to the premier league and the question is will they be able to settle quickly enough?
And if they were really intent on selling Jake, couldn't they have held out longer, so as to attract a further offer and not to give an advantage to a rival when unless we replace like with like we will be immediately disadvantaged.
so much for not being a selling club, what a joke jake. is one of the most consistant players at the club and can cover multiple positions. snodders next then.
Presumably Marco wants players in before the Chelsea game (and have time to train with the team). Alternatively the owners could be pocketing the loot.
IF he isn't replaced with a decent replacement then there's only one way to describe it "madness" be very interested to know what MS view on it is, if he's been a party to giving his agreement for it to go ahead.
Consistent at what ?? For £10m i would snap their hand off......he is an average and limited midfielder at best. But he is a grafter, and thats what City fans like !!
Hudd's performance at Man U probably showed MS that he could cover CB if needed. If we re-invest this £10m wisely then it's probably a good move .
I read it like this, would we have rather held out for more money - probably yes. But likelihood is the players MS wants are not available on loan but on permanents therefore they have had to accept the offer to get the money to purchase these signings. As long as it's reinvested then I don't see a massive issue at all. Also I believe that if Jake goes then we won't now see Snodgrass go. I think it was one or the other.
Or the report is bollocks, or the fee is nearer the £15m we wanted, or we have another reason for being prepared to release Jake ( one not to be "sniffed" at?). Personally I hope it's bollocks and he stays.
