How do we know the money will be going towards strengthening the team and not just ending inEhab's back pocket.
I'm only at post #2257, but I'd reckon MS will have come on board with a 'no sell' clause - unless he agreed with that sale. At this time, I reckon he won't sell anybody.
In no position do we have any cover with only 14 fit players. We currently need new players. But selling one takes us backwards rather than forwards down to 13 players. So that money we have made still has to go towards taking that number back up to 14. So say we get £10million for Livermore. (which is unlikely that 100% is reinvested) But hypothetically we have 10 million to spend. A percentage of that is spent on taking the squad back to 14 players. As we know having a ten million pound budget doesn't mean you have 10 million to spend on purely transfer fees. It covers signing on fees, agent fees, bonuses and other expenses. So in the Premier League in the January transfer window when all fees are notoriously inflated. When we are in a relegation battle with a national/ international reputation problem I don't personally see how 10 million for Livermore (one of our best players and reasons we haven't been cut adrift at the bottom of the league) can improve us. Fair. If it happened in Summer then I can understand somewhat. But now there is no benefit in breaking up the already threadbare squad and try to bring in players who are going to struggle to adapt quickly and be up to pace with the relegation battle.
that £10m is the opening price? if it goes up closer to £20m, Im sure MS has enough contacts to buy someone with real talent.... I bet he can buy 2 or 3 for £20m
they stopped him spunking their money on players that he couldnt get playing. Id have done the same thing if it was my cash.
The fee would have to be right (Talking 16m+) and that money all reinvested otherwise it's a complete non-starter for me. However, if MS thinks he could get 2 or 3 players in with that money that would really help, then it has to be worth considering? I agree whole heartedly on Livermore. He has been a great player for us this year, probably one of our best but I just don't see us getting enough players in without raising some money first? If we can get the players in without losing anyone than great it's a no brainer but where is that money going to come from? Unless, like OLM says all incomings will be loans. Even with the right back and striker due this week we are still another 2 or 3 short. Are they also going to be loans? We can only have 5 loans in the match day squad (If memory serves correct, I'm sure someone will clarify). If so, how is that going to work with loans of Mbokani, Niasse, Right back, striker + 2 or 3 more?
Who do we think the right sided defender is Van der wiel or the lad at olympiakos? Or somebody not mentioned?
